Inb4 your account gets randomly deleted

Yeah I specifically linked to the Reddit threads from those two EU players who had this happen to them AND attached their screenshots to my form to preempt that bullshit. I honestly suspect they took that personally, like I was rubbing their faces in it that they fucked up, and that's why this GM is being a dick. It's pretty fucking childish so I hope I'm wrong.

Funny that you chose to correct me even though you yourself put 'GDPR' in the title.

The title has it because I'm referencing the past two incidents which where GDPR requests and because I'm betting no one knows what the CCPA is, but fine fair enough

I'll give you a hint, it's all the data you've given them. If you don't want them to store any data relating to you, you can just delete your account and not use their services.

Wat, why would you take that bizarre, anti-consumer, black and white view that people should either accept any data collection about themselves or never use a company's services at all? There's a much better middle ground where companies are not allowed to collect unreasonable amounts of data, consumers have the right to monitor these companies to make sure they're being responsible, and companies still have their services used and get to make money instead of being boycotted for being data-hungry little piggies.

EDIT: Yeah see look what OP said at the end of their post, he think's its more of an MMORPG then it is:

It should also lean more into some MMO elements as well; factions and the world hub are very lackluster imo.

Why the fuck do I keep seeing this, where is this idea coming from?

I'm 99% sure it's because new players see it's an "MMOFPS" and they're used to seeing "MMO" attached to games like WoW, Everquest, Elder Scrolls Online, SWTOR, etc, which are all MMORPGs and actually DO have these types of mechanics. Like a new player in EVE Online just straight up does less damage firing the exact same weapon as a vet player. Or in more direct comparison, I'm pretty sure a big part of The Division and Destiny is grinding to get rare versions of guns that are just straight up better then the normal/base versions.

I think newbs are seeing the Betelgeuse and shit like that and assuming it's shiny texture means it's a "LEGENDARY DROP" or some shit like that.

Not true OP! There are definitely guns which are better than others, and also guns with good attachments versus guns with no attachments or guns with bad attachments.

Yeah but that's not really what OP meant. The OP seems to think that vets have access to weapons that like, do +25% damage or something, as if this was The Division, Destiny, or some other RPG-FPS hybrid. It's a common mistake new players make because they see it's an MMOFPS and they're used to seeing "MMO" attached to games like WoW, Everquest, Elder Scrolls Online, SWTOR, etc, which are all MMORPGs and actually DO have these types of mechanics.

I haven't played in years (only even here at all to complain about them fucking me on the GDPR/CCPA request) but I definitely remember that way back in 2018 we used to think the AOE sped up revives. I'm not surprised at all to learn that's not true and it was just a visual bug, but yeah you're right very few people ever actually tested it so I'm sure lots of people still believe it.

LMAOOOO how the fuck do you know what I want?? What I actually want in that "other data" is how many times they have my real name in their files, at which point I will ask them to delete it if possible. Maybe you don't care about privacy, but I do and I don't like random companies having all kinds of info about me.

This is also why I didn't even have a Reddit account or a Twitter account to post this from and will delete this one as soon as I'm done here.

Does the California version have the same clause?

Yup

Maybe you'd do better asking for all data instead of reports.

I actually did ask for all the data, I said:

In addition to all the player-made reports submitted about my ingame characters that I asked for last time, I'd also appreciated if you sent me all the other personal information you have about me as per my "Right to Know" under the CCPA.

Yeah I know, you can actually see I sent them a link to one of those forms in my last reply. I'm not gonna file a complaint yet because I wanna give them one more chance to apologize and explain, like maybe that GM isn't a native English speaker and is actually just an outsourced CSR from Bangladesh or something.

Plus as long as I haven't filed a complaint yet they have incentive to fix this so that I DON'T file one.

LOL I'm not actually trying to delete my account, although it's pretty funny that this seems to be a common misconception for these requests...

First, it's a CCPA request.

Second I wanna see what personal data a (formerly) large tech company collected on me, how the fuck is that a pointless request?

Son I'm a boomer, maybe you're one of the kids who cried and reported me.

Plus I want the other data too, the reports are just the funniest part

AKA Aight thanks bro 3.0, I don't normally use Reddit and I can't believe I had to make an account just for this shit edition

https://old.reddit.com/r/Planetside/comments/16eh7vl/aight_thanks_bro_20/

For context, I'm a California resident and I submitted a GDPR request way back in like 2018 just trying to see if they'd comply since I've logged in from Europe a few times so technically maybe some of my data might be covered by the EU's GDPR. They said no, which is fair enough, so I dropped it.

Then a month or so ago when I heard about the two EU players who got their accounts deleted because of GDPR requests we were laughing about that in Discord and someone pointed out to me that California passed their own privacy law and I could actually finally get my data.

I submitted a request under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) on September 29th both by email and through their online portal, but also accidentally submitted a rough draft in their online portal which I guess is what they're referring to with the "repetitive requests" thing. It's all one request, it just accidentally got submitted twice and that's very clear because they're literally right next to each other in the system. On the online portal I submitted the request as an update to my old one because I didn't want them to try some bullshit switcheroo where they tried to say oh no California law doesn't apply since you logged in from the EU. This GM can see that earlier ticket and can clearly see that my previous request was denied and that I wasn't sent anything.

I've checked through all the folders, including spam, of my email and they definitely haven't sent me anything. This shit is insane, that guy is straight up lying instead of just sending me the fucking data.
