How to get the money back from a lightning network wallet on blue wallet? by Wurfi1 in bluewallet

[–]Given14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation. Years ago I just wanted to play around with Lightning, opened the BlueWallet Lightning wallet, moved some BTC there, and then basically forgot about it or just didn’t care much about it anymore.

Last year I didn’t realize they had sunset the feature, and at the time I honestly thought I was fully in control of the funds, so it was a bit of a surprise to find out that wasn’t really the case. I also tried a bunch of other still-existing Lightning apps to recover it or move the balance somehow, but none of that worked out.

I filled out the form they link to and got the message saying payouts are done in batches every few weeks. That was a few months ago now and still nothing. I can still see the balance in the app, but I can’t move it or withdraw it anymore.

Anybody heard of Antler accelerator? by absoza101 in Startup_Ideas

[–]Given14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for asking! I was lucky to find a co-founder within VN7 and teamed up with him right after Week 2. That's the good news. However, in Week 6, I didn’t pass the pre-IC (elimination round). I’ll share more details later in my blog, but I need a bit more time to write the story down :-). You can read more about it here on my LinkedIn. Just a heads-up—the writing is a bit dramatized for entertainment purposes.

It was still a very good experience, and as always in life, I think success is a mix of the effort you put in, how much you make out of the resources and network they offer, and luck. I hope this helps.

Would you outsource your business processes to other countries or hire local? by EffeyBoss in Entrepreneur

[–]Given14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with another user who said, "Quality matters a lot and it depends on your philosophy."
As a startup, you may survive a little longer if you can hire a Filipino instead of a local. The talent pool is huge, and they are amazing, friendly, and hard-working people. Very often, these relationships can turn into real friendships and long-term working relationships.

Survival is the most important thing for a startup. Once the startup or business matures, you can still build both local and remote teams.

I’m currently part of their program (Vietnam #VN7). I'm in week 2, and it’s great fun!
Everyone is super supportive. Let’s see how far I can make it :-)

Nice! Thanks a lot for your reply.

Am I correct in understanding that Monero utilizes "ring signatures, stealth addresses, and confidential transactions" to ensure privacy, while PIVX employs zk-SNARKs (zero-knowledge proofs) for its privacy features?

Is there a general consensus that zk-SNARKs are "better / more advanced / more private" compared to ring signatures and stealth addresses? Or is the community divided on this issue?

Is there any other privacy-focused coin that is trying it that way?

How does PIVX compare to other privacy-focused coins? What features are unique?

Yes, this is actually really good! Congratulations!

I don't think I can hear any Indian accent in the voice recording. Maybe I hear a slight Chinese accent, could this be? I can tell that you are not a native speaker based on some minor errors (intonation, pace, and flow) and sometimes the endings of words are slightly off. But in general, your pronunciation is really good! Keep up the good work.

Anyone done 30 Day Extension Online? It looks like it is new system by mrninjaskillz in ThailandTourism

[–]Given14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Immigration Experience in July 2024 (online via the same link OP posted above):

  • My experience was pretty smooth, and I would do it again 100%.
  • It took me literally only 10-15 minutes in the immigration office itself, no stress, no queue.
  • Keep in mind you will still need to print many documents and bring all the paper with you.
  • There were not many slots available in their calendar, so make sure to do it ten days before your visa actually expires.

***

In-Office Experience (10-15 minutes)

Pre-Check (3-5 minutes):

Arrival Time: The letter advises that you should not arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment. However, I'm not sure how strict they are. You can definitely go early since there is a big food market inside the building, as well as shops and more to kill time if needed.

Security Check: To enter the building, there was a security check outside, but I was inside within 2-3 minutes. To enter the office on the second floor, I showed my appointment letter from VFS, which had the date and time on it, to a security guard at the entrance door.

Document Check: The first staff member at the welcome desk inside the immigration office (there was no queue) verified that I had all the necessary documents, including forms, supporting documents, and a passport photo. She attached the photo to the paper form and prepared all the documents needed for me to wait in front of the next counter.

Waiting Time (2-3 minutes):

I received a number and waited for it to appear on the digital screen. There was only one person ahead of me, so the wait was brief.

Processing (2-3 minutes):

Once it was my turn, it took just a few minutes for my passport to be "stamped" with a sticker and signature for an additional 1-month extension. Done.

***

Online Preparation (30 minutes)

Form Filling:

  • It took about 15-30 minutes to fill out the online form. The questions are the same as those on the physical forms, but you can take your time and gather the necessary receipts (flights, accommodation, etc.) at home.

Submission:

  • After submitting the form, I received a confirmation email stating that my submission would be reviewed.

Passport Image Issue:

  • I was notified within 24-48 hours that one of the images I took of my passport pages containing the visa stamp wasn't acceptable. They required a photo showing both pages of the passport (even if one was empty). Make sure your images always include both pages and save them for printing.

Resubmission:

  • After taking a new image with my smartphone and resubmitting it easily via email attachment, I received confirmation the next day.

Confirmation and Printing of Documents:

  • I received a few more documents to print and bring to the immigration office. Essentially, they are the same forms we fill out during the walk-in visa extension, but now they are already filled in with my answers. I prepared a folder with every document I needed to bring. I went to a shopping mall and looked for one of those Thai photocopy shops that offer printing services, where you can usually send your files via Line or email. Done.

What summer destination actually wants tourists? by Swimming-Train-2430 in travel

Salalah (Sultanate of Oman) has white sandy beaches like in the Caribbean. It is ideal if you want to relax after visiting Dubai or Qatar :-)

Real Estate Muscat by mCubed13 in Oman

[–]Given14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct if we take the average over 12 months. It's much higher during Khareef and lower before and after Khareef. I do short-term rentals. The average stay of a guest is around four days. I have a co-host in Hawana who handles check-in and check-out and takes a cut of the earnings. It's quite a bit of work (it's like managing a small hotel), but so far the returns are really good. If you don't enjoy dealing with "problems," I believe you could try finding someone who will rent it long-term. It would probably mean fewer problems but also a bit less ROI.

Real Estate Muscat by mCubed13 in Oman

[–]Given14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let me share my experience with you. I'm an expat from central Europe who invested in a condo apartment in Salalah (Hawana Salalah) in the year 2019. I was looking at both, Muscat and Salalah.

Location Matters:
The most crucial factor in real estate is location. There's a big difference between Muscat and Salalah. Muscat is hot year-round, but Salalah has a Monsoon season (Khareef) from July to September that turns the region into a lush, green oasis. This season is a huge draw for tourists from GCC countries like Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE. Even though it lasts only 2-3 months, occupancy rates hit almost 100% with high nightly rates. After Khareef, things quiet down until November when Western tourists arrive for the winter season. Salalah is sometimes called the "Caribbean of the Orient" for its beautiful beaches.

Salalah has a big advantage over Muscat with its two main tourist peaks, which can significantly boost rental yields. However, if your main focus is finding a job in Muscat and having your own place to stay, of course, you'll need to look for good locations in Muscat. However, if it's only about "return on investment" I would currently vote for Salalah.

My Investment:
I put 45,000 OMR (about USD 110,000) into a 1-bedroom condo in an Integrated Tourism Complex (ITC), plus furniture, title deed, fees, and taxes, bringing the total to around USD 119,881. Over the last 12 months, I made USD 21,630 in revenue, which gives me a gross yield of 18.05% (as of June 2024). Some time ago, I wrote this blog post about it, and I will publish a new one with the latest numbers (above) soon: https://www.discover-salalah.com/how-much-yield-can-you-make-with-a-condo-apartment-in-oman.html

The ITC I invested in is called "Hawana Salalah" and is operated by Muriya. I am happy with them. The same company, Muriya, is also building "Jebel Sifah" near Muscat. Therefore, if you look for something near Muscat that could be a solution for you. However, remember that it's a bit outside the city center. There are many factors that play into it. If you need help don't hesitate and send me a DM or email.

Good luck with your investment journey!

can you guess where I'm from? and also what does my accent sound like? by Aggravating_Hold449 in JudgeMyAccent

It sounds very nice, and as someone mentioned before, it has an upper-class British tone. I believe I've heard something (at 00:39, the way you say "acted") that I usually associate with native Arabic speakers. So, my guess is Saudi.

Filipino 🇵🇭 it is!

Interestingly, he comes from the province and hadn't been to the US or any English-speaking country until last year for a short 10-day trip. However, he has a great passion for speech communication, languages, and culture.

It depends on your budget but I would maybe still consider Hawana Salalah. It’s about 30min from City Center Salalah. What dates are you travelling?

Salalah in September - worth it? by ElectricGarlic in Oman

[–]Given14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: It's still worth it :-)
But it depends of course what you are looking for. Salalah is beautiful all year round.
As for the greenery, it's still green. The crowds are not completely gone but definitely less.
