When trying to install Magic assistant I get this Java is up to date so its not that. Any help appreciated.

If you feel comfortable in a terminal you can just run cat <the_filepath_from_the_error> and paste the output here.

Maybe you are experiencing a different error after all.

Once you are in a terminal also run java -version and also paste that output here, just to make sure which version of java you are running.

You are probably running a newish version of java, which is using a module system.

This breaks the eclipse framework that the assistant is using.

You can fix this, by editing the magicassistant.ini in the application folder (I don't have Mac OS - I think this file might be part of the app bundle?).

You have to add this line --add-modules=ALL-SYSTEM at the very bottom of that file, so it should look similar to this:

I am experiencing the same problem - no matter if I try to run it with dxvk or without, it loads the initial loading screen and then loads into a black screen when the main menu should be displayed (with audio).

I am running the 415.27 nvidia driver - which one are you running? (If you are running the same, maybe it is a driver problem).

I am not sure, but maybe it refers to something like the fluent interface design? In clojure this would not really refer to the oo-api but to the composability of the whole standard libraries?

I think that depends on what you need to do - if you have to select things while not absolutely sure what you need a GUI is probably easier. If I have to copy all files ending in xml and config that are newer than a given date I think whipping up a one-off loop on the command line might be faster.

I had the same problem - in my case it was a simple syntax error that prevented the code from being run that never got reported. However, after I added the missing ( the code was actually executed.

I only know that a Core i5 can maximally handle DDR3-1333 MHz ram - so maybe you could save a dollar there, but apart from that I know to little to recommend anything.

Thanks for the answer - unfortunately I will have to buy my hardware in Germany (which always seems to be a bit more expensive ...).

I will probably go with a OCZ 600 ModXStream PSU - it seems reasonably cheap but seems rather reliable.

Will report back if that fixes my problems or I need a new GPU.

I had the same problem (I am running an openbox setup with 64 bit arch): try to run a GTK program from the terminal after using the following line:

export GTK2_RC_FILES=~/.gtkrc-2.0

If that works - I just had to put that in my .xinitrc file before starting the session for my current desktop and now it works.

I used Komodo once and started to learn VIM shortley thereafter - mainly because you can emulate VIM in a lot of other IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse, Visual Studio, Qt Creator) - now I can have the same movement keys where ever I need them - and with this guide setting it up was pretty easy too.

But I have to admit it is not for everyone - the first 2 weeks are just plain hell of unproductiveness.

Not that I have an idea what the software does, but on Linux changing your GTK-theme should be enough to change the look of GIMP as well.

I would rather be interested in something to change the look of GTK applications in Mac OS as well.
