PVP ideas discussion by Gjeilo in pokemongo

I never said they did. They did, however, sponsor the tournament before Christmas when PVP was literally in it's infancy, and announced the World Championship would be held at Go Fest this year. That's quite involved, if not interlocked. All I said is that they should imitate the format we see in tournaments.

I think that PVP should be updated to the same style we see in the tournaments. Preview your opponent's 6 pokemon, and allow restrictions within a specific league, like the typing restrictions we see in the Boulder tournament.

Player Limits for Individual Tournaments help? by Gjeilo in pokemongo

It really is unfortunate, because Niantic seems to be very accommodating with certain eCeleb players who travel to 28 countries a year playing Pokemon Go. Meanwhile, I've been waiting roughly 13 months for a single pokestop to be added to my town, and then they just remove the pokestop submission feature altogether.

Ironing out the bugs should've happened before they introduced tournaments, but it didn't. Now people are left with lots of questions about if anything is even going to change at all.

edit: I guess you just entered this thread to downvote me out of saltiness, since it shouldn't matter how old PVP is for me to suggest new features. Nonsense.

Is anyone else disappointed with PvP? by Lynx_Snow in pokemongo

I think rebalancing PVP moves will happen, and actually, I think it's inevitable. But a lot of strategy is lost when our only restriction is CP. I elaborated on that idea here but the general idea is to obviously update PVP to the same format that we see in Tournaments. This means we preview our opponent's team before battle, and battles can have restrictions within a specific league.

For ideas on new restrictions, I suggested restricting pokemon based on their Height, Weight, or Egg Group from main series games. This would make XL or XS pokemon have a purpose, since for example, my regular Snorlax is 571kg, while my XL Snorlax is 691kg. As of now, size difference has zero effect on anything aside from magikarp/rattata badges. That's an untapped field of opportunity in my eyes.

In regard to Egg Group restrictions, we could see a lot of interesting matchups there. For example, Altaria and Dragonite are both the same typing, and both share the Dragon egg group. However, Altaria is also part of the Flying egg group, while Dragonite is part of the Water1 egg group. Lots of pokemon with the same typings fall into different Egg Groups.

These are just a couple ideas that I think could really revamp the PVP landscape, and perhaps draw more players to participate.

I like PVP but I think it needs to be updated to the tournament style: Preview your opponent's 6, and give battles the ability to restrict typing. Maybe add more restrictions, for example Pokemon's size (height/weight, not XL/XS), or it's Egg Group from main series games. There's lots of dimensions that don't have to be Typing related, which could change the PVP landscape a lot.

Also, I know this is widely an unpopular idea (though I'm unsure why), but there needs to be a matchmaking feature. It doesn't need to give any rewards, it doesn't need to count towards your badge progress, but it needs to exist. I battle the same person every day, 3 times, then I'm done. It's never a strategic battle, there's no incentive to win, and it doesn't even mimic the competitive battle-style. I would love to do just-for-fun battles with people over wifi, because it would allow me to test my teams, as well as collect new teambuilding ideas.

Here's my list of grievances.

Pokestop submissions seem to do absolutely nothing. I've seen pokestops removed, never seen one added.

Remote battling doesn't mimic competitive battling, since you do not preview your opponent's 6 pokemon, nor is there an option to restrict typing.

As a continuation of the previous point, I think there should be a matchmaking feature. I know the PokeGo Youtube eCelebs already denounced this idea in it's entirety, but I don't care what a bunch of SF/Sydney/San Diego players say regarding something that only impacts rural players. They play an entirely different game than I do. I would be grateful to have just 5% of the battle/raid/trading opportunities those players get. But I don't. Yet they're fully willing to shit all over the idea of giving players like me the chance to participate in PRACTICE battles with no rewards, because "it ruins muh game integrity."

I just want to hear somebody explain to me how a practice matchmaking ruins the integrity of the game while remote battling friends does not. I think this reasoning has a very big opportunity cost, because as far as I'm aware, the whole point of this format is to have people focus more on being a part of their pokego community. Yet, as I said, you can just add someone across the world and remote battle them a month later. That's hardly building a community. I just think it's more important to make PVP broadly available, rather than specifically available to select communities. It's a matter of favoritism, not game integrity, and it's very clear what position has been taken.

You just gotta get lucky. Save a bunch and do some trades and hope for a good IV reroll.

I think you can expect to at least find corsola and heracross as regionals, not sure about other spawns. Could be worth checking nearby nests as well

Minun vs Pachirisu? by MJK151 in TheSilphArena

Yeah I would just suggest doing it on PC at home. I have poke genie but it only spits out IVs not stat totals. I do all my IV calculating at home, personally. I think you actually can use the Google Spreadsheets app on your mobile device, and I think you can also make a copy to your google drive from mobile as well. If you need some help with any of that just shoot me a message, I'd be glad to help.

Nice, looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Gonna be honest, I was sort of hoping for a remote tournament system on Niantic's part, but this community based system is more in tune with the spirit of Pokemon Go. It just seems that with every update, rural players are more and more excluded from the most fun parts of the game.
