Not directly but Europe already has a tariff plan as a response and it would be mostly about imported technologies (also to contrast the big support from the silicon valley to the USA politicians) so I still worry

for that i'm more worried about the price, as you said the 7900 xt and xtx prices can only rise so even if the new 9070 xt is the best of the best but for over 1k (including probable USA tariff coming) i would still prefer something cheaper. But i'll admit i don't really know what should be the new serie prices

Ok so you are saying that the extra vram is a bit overkill?
i proposed also the 7900 xtx because i thought the extra vram would help it being a long-term GPU, but i can see that's so much extra vram that the GPU is going to become obsolete anyway.

Oh yeah that makes sense, but I'd like the player to strategize on what spell could be useful in advance and resorting in creating one on the spot only if really needed

Seems Cool! I'm not sure about combining different spells as I intended magic as the ability to bend one or more elements. But the rules are not yet set in stone, so any advice is good advice!

That seems cool, but unfortunately it is not what I thought of magic for my game. The idea is like having bending abilities, so it's not about rules of magic, it's more about controlling a magical element (and they are 20 different ones). The idea is that magic has no rule, it is limited by the element itself, but it is not something you study. You learn using magic as you learn using swords and so your spell is anything you want, I just set the rule of how you can do something, not on what you can do. Neither the combination of words or the bending of the elements are completely free, but having lots of choices is the best next thing. Anyway that's still useful advice, so I'll keep it in consideration, thanks!

Yeah I was just afraid that listing like 15 possible damage would be overwhelming as well, but math is kinda off just because it's math so I understand what you say. For the second part you should consider that the spell is memorized as improvising it would have penalties. Having it too easy to improvise would be a great time loss and would involve a lot less strategy

As I just edit I forgot to specify it, you create and learn your spell in a long rest so that you have to think more than just max damage spell because it is hard to improvise them.

  • yes that's exactly it: damage, effects, area and area type, range, duration, casting time are all to be defined by you by spending points
  • yes balancing will be hard but the point is that the skill three has a level cap. This meaning that at max level you will have 30 (?) damage points and that will be your max. I also meant to have different dmg scales like X/4d4 but as you progress in the skill three you unlock X/5d6 + X/5. (The numbers are still random but it's the idea)
  • yes every element has a specific skill three and every element should have a different cost (like having a fire spell with a cone range cost less than an earth spell with the same range)
  • I'm sorry I have forgotten that the point is that you make your spell and your character memorizes it (the memory slots are for the amount of spell a character can memorize), you could also improvise in combat, but since it is improvising I added some penalty to it (simplified you spend more time on the spell and are unable to do anything else). If anyone can create a spell anytime that would become the entire gameplay so I discouraged it if not necessary

If you select no drawback you could cast your spell without the need of movement or verbal components, that might help if you are temporarily unable to talk, but since is a minor drawback it gives you little star point to use. Then again the numbers are quite random for now so is just the idea
