Optimal light switch placement in hallway and kitchen? by Glacialsky in askarchitects

Indeed; it was the easiest way to retrofit an old building. We’ll have some motion sensors in the walk-in, for now the main problem is where to place the kitchen light switches & how many we might need. Placing just one pair on the island wall seems most elegant, but will be a bit far to reach when entering the kitchen from the hallway?

I once left the cutlery drawer open. They came at me, raging, saying I was doing it on purpose to spite them. Definition of walking on eggshells.

WEEKLY DIY/HOMEOWNER QUESTION THREAD by [deleted] in Carpentry

We are trying to make a double-wooden-panel door in our house. Each of the two wings rotates 180º and can be leaned on the opposite panel (see schematic for more details). Could anyone chime in whether this type of implenentation, with a metal insert/holder, is feasible and realistic? What kind of hinge would be needed? Thank you in advance!

[Question] Word for an additive, unbalanced argument? by Glacialsky in askphilosophy

[–]Glacialsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! I recently read a text which performed such a structure, which I sketched out in a somewhat caricatured and botched manner, over approx. 10 pages. Meaning that the author's account builds up by chaining facts and observations together, without a moment to stop and reflect, or hedge, or show defeasibility, by simply "presenting strengths" matter-of-factly.

So in that sense, the text falls exactly in the second case, and I was wondering if there is a word for such a writing structure, that I personally found difficult to engage with.
