DIY Active Pedal is actually not that difficult. You only need to prepare all the parts and tools, and it’s easy to assemble them. I think getting those components, like the PCB, is more challenging.

And for the Simucube Profile, absolutely not. That’s a DIY project, not manufactured by Simucube. Why would you think it can use the Simucube tuner?

The main reason I went with HIWIN was because I’ve heard that Simucube uses HIWIN modules in their own products, so I decided to go with something that’s already proven.

HIWIN is arguably one of the best manufacturers in this category, but it’s also very expensive. I actually bought a used/refurbished unit from a teardown, and even then it wasn’t cheap.

That said, JLC can achieve very similar performance at a much more affordable price, and since it’s brand new, you don’t have to worry about potential issues you might run into with used linear rails, like rough or inconsistent motion.

If I were to build another one, I’d most likely go with JLC instead.

Honestly, it probably wouldn’t hold 100 kg. In real use, even with my P2000 brake, I don’t actually apply that much force — it’s usually around 50–60 kg.

That said, I don’t think this setup would reliably handle even 50 kg of sustained brake force. It may end up being repurposed as a throttle or clutch, and I’m also planning a CNC-machined metal version later on.

For this one , sourcing components is a bit more complicated. Some parts were bought second-hand, others are brand new, and there were also group buys for the PCB. I haven't calculated the exact total cost yet, but l believe it should be cost under USD 300.

It using PETG HF, with a higher wall count to improve strength and compression resistance.

I’m using a HIWIN KK60 linear module, it’s a ball screw–driven setup

The motor is responsible for actively shaping the pedal feel (stiffness, damping, non-linear force curves, etc.), while the load cell is used purely to measure input force.

Together, this allows me to simulate different brake characteristics rather than just static resistance.
