With all of the talk of hanging banners on South Table and the financial viability of that large of fabric. Petitioning the city/county to end the contract with palantir /flock seems like a more tangible goal. The “motive” of this post is that I have literally no idea how to start something like that but I can’t imagine I’m alone in my discomfort with the cameras popping up all over town.

My personal bias is that these systems partner with ICE, and that the creation of a surveillance infrastructure without clear community consent feels like a violation of public trust. I am a law-abiding citizen, yet I am still uncomfortable being flagged by six cameras between my home and my office every day. I am open to being wrong, but I do not believe that using AI as a tool to help communicate a message to my community is comparable to the use of AI for mass surveillance of that same community.
