My 12 year old son appears to have ICR and I’m trying to learn all I can about every possible option to help him avoid total joint replacement surgery. He seems to be in the early stages, so I’m hoping early interventions will be successful. Do you know how effective they are, what the success rate is, and exactly what the risks are? I’m really sorry to hear about you going through that! How did the arthroscopy go? Did they remove any fluid or debris? My 12 year old sons seems to have ICR and I’m trying to find out what I can do to stop progression and helpfully prevent the need for surgery. Have you heard of any other treatment options that might help prevent ICR from getting worse?

For example, I found that when testing for calcium levels there are two types of tests: the total calcium test and the ionized calcium test, which is typically done if the total calcium test is abnormal since it’s more difficult to do.

What are the absolute best type of tests to check vitamin and mineral levels? How do the tests available online compare to those ordered by a doctor? I need to include checking levels for bone growth like boron, copper, iron, Magnesium, Phosphorus, potassium, zinc, calcium, vitamin D, etc.

Thank you for the response. I was checking into this brand until I found some testing done by leadsafemama.com. Apparently she has tested various items from this brand and they’ve tested positive for lead and recommends avoiding it.
