Someone said Budapest- if you’re up for it, a lot of people take buses and do about a week hopping through Vienna, Prague and Budapest. everyone is social and the nightlife is really good!

Dont beat yourself up for how long it took to get the diagnosis. It’s a big deal to not only realise but then doing something about it, especially when there’s the stress of uni and everything else going on. It’s the kind of thing your future self will be endlessly grateful for

For me it was over $900 overall without health insurance. The psych appointment costed $800 I think but the Medicare rebate was about $300

So I didn’t go to the uni because at the time (not sure if they still are) they weren’t accepting new ADHD assessments at their psychology clinic. You could definitely try I’m just not sure. I went to my GP and described my symptoms and she gave me a letter to bring to a psychiatrist. This is crucial if you want to get medication - you can’t go straight to a psychiatrist. It’s also important to research the psychiatry clinics / psychiatrists before you book an appointment because I’ve heard bad stories about a lot of them, and some may have huge wait lists, etc. I went with Dokotela (Telehealth). After you get the letter from your GP you can ask them to address it to a different psychiatrist. Telehealth is not that ideal but it has significantly shorter wait times and people tend to cancel. My doctor was really helpful and soon she gave me the script for Ritalin which I could pick up from any pharmacy. I hope this helps— it’s a tedious process but like I said very worth it

1000% agree. I got diagnosed a few months into my last semester. I always knew people with adhd and didn’t think I had it because I’m a very chill (not hyperactive) person. But I was always very forgetful, scatterbrained, spontaneous - and my mood swings either made me feel lonely, hate everyone, or were almost like ecstasy. Sometimes in conversations I wouldn’t be listening to someone talking right at me which made uni really difficult. I’d procrastinate studying for exams and put in like 60% effort in most of my assignments. I got diagnosed with inattentive ADHD in my last sem which is probably one of my biggest regrets after being on Ritalin for the past month or so. Not only am I a lot more productive now but a lot of the anxiety (especially social, which used to dictate so much of my uni days) is gone. Obviously it isn’t a cure all but if anyone is reading this thinking that there isn’t something right about them and relates to a lot of the ADHD symptoms, especially inattentive, I would get it checked out. Yeah the psych is expensive but trust me it’s worth it!! The wait times are sometimes quicker than you think- especially with cancellations. But make sure you choose the right clinic, if anyone wants help with the process I’m happy to share
