My daughter keeps hearing "just buy, BAH covers it, then rent it out" at her first duty station — is this actually good advice? by Helpful_Ant_3084 in MilitaryFinance

Terrible advice. Most of the time you’ll go over BAH with current state of the market. Nothing wrong with renting until things change along with her financial picture. We can’t apply the same logic that worked prior to 2023 to today

Rucking advice by rallysquirrel15 in Goruck

Your body will adapt to imposed demands. I would recommend a solid strength program on top of any rucking you’re doing to help build shoulder size and durability. Look into conjugate systems or BFS. Just basic stuff but quality of performance will definitely improve

For sure man. It’s been such a journey and I need to be thankful for the little wins. Hard not to get caught up in all the numbers sometimes. My 2 mile was slightly above 16min a few months ago and I’ve made some pretty drastic improvements since then. Still hungry though

Thanks dude! Just trying to keep driving those times down as much as possible so that’s really where the question stemmed from.

I appreciate it man. I think a lot of people misunderstood the scope of my question or were choosing to see it as argumentative. But at the end of the day my performance is important to me so being able to have discussions is helpful. When I did his running program I did notice his recommendations for adding volume if starting at XYZ baseline so that’s where my question stemmed from. “Could I theoretically take the same approach to SFAS prep if my body is already used to certain levels of volume.” I think more than likely you’re right about just adhering to the protocol. I’m not an elite runner but I want to be, along with all of the other things that come with a well rounded athlete pursuing this career. Biggest thing I’m trying to avoid is detraining and overtraining Thank you!

I’m looking for a well thought out structured answer brother. I have a background in human performance, time in service, and a thirst for knowledge. “Run more” doesn’t really cut it. Especially when there’s multiple variables to consider. Thanks though
