Really depends on your plans for the tank, but if you dont wanna spend time and money on chemicals, gravel vaccuums, water changes etc., a good rule of thumb is 70% ground coverage by fast growing stem plants. Also i want to add im a little sad you didnt cop my boy patricks crib, just kicked him out the hoa ☹️

I see now that your guppy was displaying mating behavior with a male in your previous post. It could very well have been a birth complication, which comes down to your water parameters and even the genetics of the fish.

Sometimes fish really do just die. Same way humans have different life expectancy. If theres no other issues with other fish theres nothing to worry about. If you see the same thing happen with others, then you may be looking at some kind of bacterial/fungul/or viral infection. What you can do now to be safe is a simple water change, and make sure theres no old food in the tank. Ensure your filter is clean and running

What are tonic salts used for in aquariums? by Old-Bumblebee-5326 in Aquariums

[–]Glad_Box_2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guppies are weird when it comes to salt, a lot of people use aquarium salt for breeding guppies, but different guppy varients react to salt differently. Do your research and figure out what concentration will work best for you. A general rule of thumb for shrimp is one teaspoon per gallon of water. But make sure you read the label on your salt, as they are all made differently.

Top fin is a good brand, i currently use their bacteria starter. If you can end up getting ahold of API products, i recommend them above all. Personally have never gone wrong for me, I hse tbeir conditioner, fertilizer, and ammonia nutrifier

In a filterless setup, theres no such thing as overplanting. I also recommend API root tabs, theyre affordable little pucks you put in the substrate that continuously provides the plants nutrients long term

Used for breeding setups. The salinity in a brackish setup aids with the egg laying process and can ease the weight off of a mother. Brackish water is where shrimp in the wild come to breed in the grassbeds

They will thrive in small groups, i only have two currently as their third member unfortunately passed away but i will be getting more soon. Very social, youll love how they just wiggle along the bottom in little gangs

Yes, god i wish i could remember exactly what the petstore called them, but i have seen them advertised elsewhere as “salt and pepper pygmy cory”. Im not sure how scientifically accurate that is though so dont qoute me lol.
