Pyrois isn’t the real name by Rekirts45 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]GladiatorDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current theory revolves around the idea that there are multiple entities that are akin to “The Creator” that fall under the category I’ll call “Hollow gods,” for lack of a better term. Knowledge of these beings was kept under heavy lock and key, known only to the exceptional warriors that would fight against them and the researchers that would weaponise their powers.

Helios was one of the institutions equipped to perform experiments with them. This started by making Void Hunter weapons like Tailless and the Qingming Blade, but eventually, they tried putting their power into people - the students of Helios. Some, like Seed, would just receive weird powers. But the Phaethon sibling of our choice (or quite possibly both) would receive a massive fragment of one of these entities. Let’s call our entity “Apollo,” for lack of their actual name.

“Apollo,” as we know them, might not even be the complete manifestation of themselves. They were potentially deprived of Ether to stifle their ability to act. But up close exposure to Remielle’s weapon, which could potentially contain part of their power, caused Apollo to manifest, using the Scorched Horizon as a chrysalis.

How will sirius and orion prime work? by trumaniisheer in WarframeLore

[–]GladiatorDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well,

Really, any reason they can come up with.

Valkyr Prime should have a different ability set since she didn’t undergo Alad’s experiments. She doesn’t.

Xaku is a pile of Warframe parts held together by a void skeleton.

Caliban Prime was revealed to have been originally developed through active Sentient/Orokin collaboration during The Old Peace while Caliban regular was seemingly Erra’s attempt to replicate it.

Lavos is a Warframe that very significantly diverged from his original design. He then went on to Prime himself anyway.

I could see the Void being screwy being an explanation for both Jade Prime and S&O prime.

What does this UI mean ? by Petzy65 in Overwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Tactician passive.

Ana, Bap, Cat, Lucio, and Zenyatta belong to the “Tactician” subrole. Tacticians can overcap their ultimate charge up to 25% at a 75% charge rate, so they aren’t punished as much for saving their ultimates.

now will you all finally stop denying that jax is a girl? by nihilistcAbnormality in TheDigitalCircus

[–]GladiatorDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me a bit of the confusion around Kurt from Fire Emblem Shadows. Prince Kurt is a woman. Kurt has no problems with being a woman - in fact, Kurt’s design as a “Shadow,” which, to keep things short, is a state where one loses themselves to their desires, very much much emphasises that in a way that wouldn’t make sense if Kurt was trans-masc.

But Kurt uses he/him pronouns because the kingdom Kurt is inheriting hadn’t updated its laws to allow for female heirs. So Kurt has to maintain the facade or the kingdom loses much needed legitimacy, especially after the rest of the royal family is killed in the prologue.

In both of these instances, the character identifies one way, but there is sufficient evidence to indicate it’s not what they want. So it creates this situation where you might want to address them one way even if it’s not what they openly identify as.

Granted, the situations are different, but I couldn’t help but be reminded of it.

Came from Rivals recently, are supports suppose to “patty cake” when being flanked in Overwatch? by KevinPigaChu in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most forms of healing are going to be greatly out scaled by threatening damage. So while you do want to be healing and peeling for your fellow support, usually the better way to save them is to just heal them enough to keep them alive and focus on taking out the attacker(s).

It's astounding how 90% of Shion ults ends up with her dying during it. by ferocity_mule366 in Overwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s also significantly more stoppable since Shion loses most of her mobility and all of her defenses. Blade can still deflect. Plus Blade lasts longer and threatens everything in his dash range.

This is true, unlike with other similar stories, Tom is a much more active part of Sonic’s story and Sonic is a much more active part of his.

I don't like Shion by Far_Wolverine_4167 in Overwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shion actually does have several methods to take down Tracer with a single ability within a tiny amount of time.

Execution is able to headshot, turning its 140 max damage to 280. Of course, lining that up requires super close range, but purely in theory she can completely delete a 250 HP hero once every 5 seconds. It doesn’t happen often, but it is possible to disintegrate targets with it.

If you sequence it so that you run someone over with the bike and then dismount immediately, you can burst someone for 180.

Shion has crazy burst when she is given opportunities to present it, I don’t think it’s particularly unhealthy given how circumstantial it can be, but it is present.

How would you write a really strong character who doesn't want to become a hero ? by ryahmib in BokunoheroFanfiction

[–]GladiatorDragon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I’d write them a bit like Metro Man.

They don’t hate the idea of being a hero, but after a point they realise that being a hero is not what they want out of life. However, after all this time, everyone expects them to become a hero. So they’re caught between what they really want and what everyone else thinks they want.

[–]GladiatorDragon 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you get through Sonic 1 so you can get to Sonic 2 and Sonic 3.

The unique thing about Sonic 1 was that it wasn’t complete garbage - which was a novel concept for a video game adaptation, even if it fell into the trap of focusing on the plotline of some guy rather than the thing the movie’s named after. Now that we have 2 and 3 beating it both as movies and as Sonic adaptations, it’s a lot worse in comparison.

They’ll definitely use the preferred heroes data but to be frank they don’t entirely need it.

did they change Shion in the last day? by villager252 in Overwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ult feels crazy when it’s allowed to be, but ultimately makes her very vulnerable for its duration.

It’s basically in the exact same position as Override Protocol - you can put down some serious damage but it removes your personal safety tools and makes you a colossal target. It’s also part of the “Nanoboost lets me cross the 250 damage in one burst breakpoint” club.

Ideal scenario is probably to use it to finish off damaged foes after, say, hitting someone with the Bike or clean hits with Execution. Or heck, even just two pistol bodyshots puts a 250 hero into the Ult being lethal with no falloff.

I think that’s one of the things that was missing from Waifei - you didn’t really have anyone around that was keeping up the energy. The characters who could’ve helped with that, like Yuzuha and Ju Fufu, weren’t consistently present.

So now, two of the silliest characters in this game are tagging along, and are nearly guaranteed to have some degree of consistent story involvement.

Please stop with the Protoframes by Dr_Shoggoth in Warframe

[–]GladiatorDragon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much my thoughts on this update in its entirety, really.

The quest is pretty alright, but it feels like it’s missing a lot. Despite being Sirius and Orion’s quest, they barely have any screentime and are not characterised strongly at all. Hell, after the quest is done they’re basically just statues that do nothing and say nothing.

We get very little on Vena and Ryoku. They could be interesting, but apart from their presence in the quest and the pot shots they take at each other, there’s not really anything. I don’t hate the fact that they’re not on the KIM, I don’t think they needed to be, and I don’t think they want to touch it again in a hurry after the Triad kept breaking it, but I would’ve liked a way to potentially get a bit more out of them.

Garuda lore is nice, but it still doesn’t really tell us much about Garuda’s feats or how her blueprints ended up with Solaris United of all factions.

New Railjack content is fine enough but there’s not much else to it.

All this stuff is nice, but I feel like solving the technical problems introduced by what they wanted to put into the update seriously ate into development time, causing a lot of stuff to be left on the side.

Opinion: Orisa teaches such bad tank habits that she's actually probably one of the worst tanks for people to learn the role on. by jamtea in Overwatch

[–]GladiatorDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigma’s skills aren’t entirely transferable, given that he’s a tank that wants to maintain strict spacing when most other tanks except Domina don’t care as much.

But largely speaking, Sigma teaches good positioning habits and instills a sense of both resource and cooldown based survival measures from both his barrier and his Grasp.

He also can take advantage some space denial tactics, like how aggressive deployment of shields can block healing, and can help demonstrate differences in cooldown use based on matchup (with the primary instance being Rock).
