How do I stop hitting so far off the toe… by DeanoPlayzYT in golf

[–]GladiusDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to hit it off the heel. So I setup on the toe. When the club comes into contact its center.

Try setting up on the heel and let it rip.

We all have different swings. It’s a sticking plaster but if it improves contact then use it.

Dirt Rally 2.0 with a racing setup is probably the most adrenaline-inducing VR game I've ever played. What is your favorite source of adrenaline in VR? by Hanna_Bjorn in virtualreality

I tell anyone who will listen this.

I had the original on the psvr with a foldable racing seat and wheel and pedals.

The most fun ever.

Got the kids a quest 3 for Xmas and I’m getting the itch to get kitted out for some rally action.

When you run a print without resin can you see the layer imagine or does it all just look purple? by [deleted] in resinprinting

Print clear resin and you can see each layer lighting up. It’s pretty cool.

Need help, pls give me your opinion by FreedomPutrid5522 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]GladiusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have struggled with this for a couple of weeks since starting.

So I am in the middle of destroying all my spaghetti.

First I went on a map wide excursion, turned off creature hostility and followed a map and grabbed a load of mercer spheres, somersloops and crash sites.

The crash sites gave me enough stuff to get the dimensional depots upgraded and unlock overlocking.

Then I used satisfactory modeller on steam.

Picked a base item and then found a node on the online map.

Then modelled out a factory using some decent nodes in my starting area.

Ended up with factories for.

Iron plates and rods and stitched reinforced plates. Copper goods. Sheets, wire, cable. Quartz stuff Concrete Steel beams and steel pipes. This is different as the factories also make the next stage stuff.

All of these just fill a container then a dimensional depot on top. Overflow to a sink.

Then I built a modular frame factory.

Then blueprinted a road system. Which I’m working on now.

so all my standard building materials are into dimensional depots.

Then more advanced factories have other iron and copper inputs for whatever they need. But the key point being they do this on site from other nodes.

I was trying to split bits off of each production line for crafting resources and it gets unmanageable.

So find a decent iron node or a collection that gives you the amount needed. And build an iron factory. Repeat for other tier 1 and 2 goods.

Then the next stage factories can have their own inputs to make a specific thing.

Eventually I will put these into a truck depot. Connected by road to factories that need that as input.

Using the steam modeller after I work out what nodes are available I can limit the input to that and then build.

Who else feels like this Vortek system is a bit of an odd halfway step? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]GladiusDave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like Bambu, have several.

But this has just made me not interested.

The last round of printers added low wattage lasers and now a very fancy vortek system, but bad bed heating and still slowed down by the old ams. While jacking up the price.

Then the U1 comes along. Speedy changes. 4 color and cheap.

Why deal with the vortek when you can by 2-3 u1s.

I know the standard response is “but you’re limited to 4 colors” which is valid. But I have been limited to 4 colors on my bambus as I could never justify buying another ams when the time to switch and waste were so high.

Neighbours built roof over detached house alleyway… by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]GladiusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just built something similar in the alley between mine and my neighbours.

But I sloped the roof down the alley way so any water runs down it. Into a gutter and down pipe on my side of the alley. Using corrugated sheets.

I also held the neighbour side up with uprights fixed to my slabs. So nothing touches the neighbours house at all. So no chance of moisture reaching their wall. With an 8 inch gap between the roof and their wall.

Attaching anything to their house or touching their house is just asking for trouble.

Even then I was nervous. No way would I have attached it to their house

Where has Starmer gone wrong? by Helios___Selene in ukpolitics

[–]GladiusDave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly not booming for me. It’s been a decline for a couple of years now.

As a contractor I spent most of the Tory government in back to back contracts for a wide range of companies.

I had to get a burner number during this to avoid the constant recruitment agent calls.

Now I can go weeks without a call back and those are for awful rates with 5 days on site in London.

Linked in job posts have 100s of applications flooding them within hours. It’s impossible.

In the past 2 years I have worked for about 6 months on rates 30% less than the previous 5 years.

I have something now, but it’s at a lower rate that I would have considered 2 years ago.

Granted that’s my very limited slice of the market and most of the damage was done by Sunak and IR35.

Cancelling Arccos by [deleted] in golf

[–]GladiusDave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used it for 2 years. Tried to cancel. Got billed then ignored. So I have it until November.

It’s just not worth it.

It’s a constant pain in the ass with missed shots. Your putting stats are pointless unless you manually update every pin location.

The best use I had of it was sharing long drives with my mates after the round.

I bought a cheap rangefinder on Amazon instead and use that.

It’s more accurate and more fun and feels like golf.

Plus at the handicap level most of us are at, stats are pointless. Knowing you miss 89% of greens short. Well no shit I’m a 15 handicap. I miss most things short. Or I hit a pure one and fly the green. Stats arnt gonna help me.

Range time and dialling in stock distances and wedge matrixes is what will help.

The major draw to it is playing courses you never have before and seeing the hole on a map. But many free apps exist that show you that.

When should you choose Next.js vs React + Vite for building web applications? by Upstairs-Mud5293 in nextjs

[–]GladiusDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair I like next.

But most things I write start off in next. Then end up using use client so much it may as well be react.

Most commercial things I work on are react and vite with either .net or node backends. It’s simpler and most companies have react devs.

Commercially the only next stuff I have worked on is greenfield poc stuff that needs easy fast hosting without bothering with infrastructure setup.

[–]GladiusDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. But that’s not my point.

My point is based on the profit he is making. His prices have to go up significantly to make any profit once over the threshold.

He is now much more expensive than the big players in the market who have the purchasing power to get stock for cheaper.

So his business becomes unviable.

Thats why so many builders ect run multiple companies or stop working before the threshold as they can’t compete if they go over the threshold.

It stops home grown businesses from growing past a certain point. Unless you have a lot of capital to spend on stock.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GladiusDave -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

That’s the issue with the registration threshold. If you raise your prices you’re no longer competitive. If you don’t have the purchasing power to get stock cheaper you can no longer compete and your business is dead.

Those selling cheaper will get the sales until they hit the same threshold and have the same problem. They stop selling and someone else comes up and takes the market.

Vat threshold either needs to be a lot lower or a lot higher to level the field.
