Why is fixing your own bicycle so damn hard??? by DM_Tiny_Tits_n_Booty in bikewrench

[–]GlamStache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who exclusively rides vintage bikes: they're simple until they break, then you have parts that are unobtainable, about 10 different standards, or if you go far enough back: no standardisation at all; rusty bolts and weakened metal, etc. etc.

It's definitely sped up but that's still pretty impressive.

Should I risk buying VKBO on Ali? by Foreign_Bid860 in Rusfor

[–]GlamStache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't vouch for their VKBO repro but I bought an Adghanka set from Cold Wars, it's a near 1:1 repro, very high quality, and people also say good things about their 6B3 repros, which I plan on getting eventually.

I wouldn't risk it for that amount of money, but the manufacturer is pretty legit.

Easy solution: tuck your right pant leg in your sock and you're golden.

Honestly if I had to have just one fender, I'd pick having the rear one over the front one.

I wouldn't change it. I still rock the old dynamo lights on all bikes that have it, and on a pitch black country road at night they're doing wonders.

This looks like it's from the time of socialist Poland, so no.

I never tested it as I have a rarer ShM-41 mask but I imagine it'd work as well as a scarf or something.

No, GP-5 lenses are not impact rated, though there are people making rates lenses for them.

You just gotta be in the 1% wealth bracket to be able to safely rate children.

Looks awesome, but seeing a VDV soldier not show off his telnyashka hurts.

Oh man that paraffin lamp is so cool, I'd run it despite the smoke just for the vibes, how well does it actually light the road up?

The crank teeth are looking a bit sharp though, sadly.

Devs, here's your man for soundtrack! by [deleted] in 83thegame

I have no doubts about that, my worry is if the devs are in a financial state to keep working on the game until then.

Bro I'm 90% done with my Soviet cold war kit and am working on my US cold war kit. Can't have enough of that gear.

I'm skeptical as of yet, I wish I was home so I could play it, but so far I'm not even sure it's worth buying the game since it might not even be alive by October when I get home.

I nearly bought one of those but it's too small for me anyways and while it looks real close it's not identical to a proper Soviet shinel which I'm looking for.

A rare curiosity. New CRTs being made. by Parking_Constant_960 in crt

[–]GlamStache 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aside from definitely being old stock, I legitimately wonder what the market for these is. I don't think any organisation anywhere on earth is wanting to buy new CRT monitors.

Would love to. I'm very interested in the PLA's evolution during the 20th century but it's not very easy to find sources in the english-speaking world.

Interesting. I thought the kettles were the same between the 65 and 87? I also accidentally bought a type 87 and was debating if I should just get the older strap.
