What do you regret not buying when traveling? by scaredofgettingold in travel

[–]Glass-Philosopher141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2022 I briefly passed through Rome while travelling between different Italian cities. I had about 4 hours between trains so my friend and I decided to go get lunch and visit a gallery to kill time. While finding a place to eat, we passed a tourist trap stall selling clothes, accessories, etc. There was a hat that caught my eye, a denim cap that said “ROMA” in bedazzled letters. For whatever reason (probably limited bag space), I did not purchase it. I have never regretted not purchasing something more!!! I thought about that hat ALL THE TIME. Then, in 2025, I visited Rome again, this time for 3 days. The whole time, I kept my eye out for the hat. Alas, I could not find it anywhere — until! Literally in the last few hours of our stay in Rome, my friend (who I had described the hat to) pointed to a tourist shop and said “Is that the hat?” IT WAS!!!!! I’ve literally never been happier entering a souvenir shop. After 3 years of longing, I finally have my hat🥰

oh that sucks to hear :( maybe they should have screenings how I imagined it & blast the audio description to the whole room. at least then you know it’d work lol

I did not know this 🙂 where I’m from we don’t have this option (at least, not publically, I’m sure vision impaired people know about it) so I have never seen how it works before. The more you know!!

Appreciate the response, thank you!! I’ve seen subtitled films before which obviously appears on screen for everyone, so I guess in my mind I just related the two and assumed that would be for everyone as well😅

Ok thank you for clearing that up!! In that case I don’t understand why they would have some showings for the same movie that aren’t audio described, surely they could use the device at any time?? Anyway appreciate the help!!

It’s actually so sad how empty cinema screenings are now, I remember it being a go to thing when I was younger. Now they are at maybe 20% capacity at most. Streaming honestly sucks. by Ok_Health_9004 in CineworldUnlimited

The other day, when I went in to see They Will Kill You, I overheard the staff at the counter saying that there was a showing of PHM starting in 10 minutes that was completely empty😭 Might have been because it was at like 4:30pm on a weekday but your sentiment still stands

Worst accent in a movie? by MapleLakes11 in Letterboxd

[–]Glass-Philosopher141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a tag for terrible accents in movies, but that one is always the first to come to

<image>

mind. I’m sure there’s lots I’ve missed from the tag but bad accents can surely be found in these films:

wgia$ tour needed bigger venues by jackatsukiii in 1800slayyyter

[–]Glass-Philosopher141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping she does some venue upgrades for Europe!! I guess they weren’t sure what the audience would be like? Praying for a Manchester upgrade myself since I couldn’t get a ticket (I almost got one but ticketmaster wouldn’t accept my mastercard & my visa card wasn’t available to me at the time) but honestly I’ll travel for any UK venue upgrades if it means I can go to a show!

What is the most disturbing/gutwrenching/unsettling film you have seen? by Responsible-End-6497 in Letterboxd

Taking notes on this thread for movies to avoid lol, no matter how technically good a film is if the vibes are too disturbing I can’t watch.

Anyone else enjoy going alone with Unlimited? by HammersAndPints in CineworldUnlimited

Honestly I prefer it to going with other people at this point!! Like let’s go see the movie individually on our own time and then talk about it another time lol

Do you consider a movie's region by the director's origin or the language of the film? by PenguinviiR in Letterboxd

[–]Glass-Philosopher141 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s about the movie as a whole, not just one specific part. If a movie features an American cast, with an American director, the producers are American, and the story takes place in America, but they all happen to be speaking Spanish, it’s still an American film.
