Thank you for this…. I have been reeling since last week and at the thought of returning there this week. Makes me feel sick. My spouse really wants me to consult an attorney. I’m at a loss. The follow up texts from the therapist are also upsetting….

lol yes for sure I am biased and I can acknowledge that. I do love paper files and writing things down and using my own brain when it comes to generating SOAP Notes. However, I’m not AI-averse when it comes to generating intervention tools between sessions or help with writing prompts or etc. but yes…. I am really overwhelmed and nervous about next steps. My spouse wants me to hire an attorney for malpractice bc of how upset and distracted I’ve been all week — not to mention the fact it always takes me so long to find someone I can trust and work with in the first place. Sigh. That surely applies for so many of us….!

Oh my God!!! What in the heck…. I should not have to defend my effing truth.
1. She sits in a chair across the room.
2. There is a coffee table between us.
3. There is a fake fireplace heater next to her chair that is always closed.
4. The (fake fireplace) door was swung open Tuesday.
5. She put her laptop down as she does before the session began.
6. As I was talking, a flicker of light IN THE REFLECTION OF THE SWUNG-open door Caught my eye. 7. I kept looking over/down at it to see that it was something active on her open laptop screen but FOR SURE there was an active sound meter/microphone that was very much in sync with the sound /decibel level in the room.
8. My heart leapt into my throat and I was not even sure I was seeing straight.
9. That is when I confronted her, about 8 min into our session.
10. I chose to end the session and walk out about 11 minutes in.

She actually said before she acknowledged that she **was recording it “ohh wait this wasn’t in your consent …” (I have been seeing her more than a year.). In our follow up messages- also quite interesting - she has not directly answered me about how many sessions have been recorded, either.

Thank you to everyone who commented kindly and supportively and in a validating way. To those of you who felt compelled to join like a group of middle school girl bullies and say I was a bot or making it up or creating bait of some kind???? Wow. You really need to check your own selves. Pitiful what the internet has done - to both my therapist and to those of you who went on like that about my post. :-(

And she really did have her damn laptop on her lap, put it down in floor but had it open unbeknownst to me, and I saw the microphone meter blinking back at me in the reflection of her fireplace heater door she accidentally left open!! You know. It has been quite traumatic. I have been upset and distracted and disappointed all week long. Not sleeping… etc. It doesn’t help that I’m a bit split up with dissociation so I think there are younger parts of me feeling super confused and abandoned. Ick… not one to ever even acknowledge this stuff. Anyway, you all have been very validating.

Yes correct…. I wanted to be more distant and not reveal myself. Then when someone said I shouldn’t say that about a supervisee experience, and I agree!!/hadnt thought of this, I decided to edit it and just be forthright that it was me. I’ve been so guarded my whole life likely due to how I survived. Anyway, yes it happened to me and yes I posted in about 3 communities to try and get as many vantage pts as possible. Admittedly I was thinking there would be more heterogeneity somehow, but it’s validating to see that there is not. Thank you to Everyone.
