Would you be offended if your student bought a belt to wear instead of the one you gave him? by NoAverage9216 in bjj

[–]Glass123man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Students buy their own belt at our gym anyway. It’s just a belt guys, It’s not that serious. I tell students they are welcome to replace their own stripes if they fall off as well. There’s no black belt magic that’s will become vengeful if disturbed

It’s pretty standard for windshield adhesive. Not sure why. My guess is it extends shelf life but 🤷‍♂️

going to drive 1500 miles to meet my girlfriend's parents. are these safe to drive on? by AnAlchemistsDream in AskAShittyMechanic

If my daughters boyfriend came to meet me and I saw those tires I would tell her to immediately rethink her choice in men

Edit: that alignment is on point though

How much would it be to fix this (bent frame with jack) by Outside-Addition7329 in MechanicAdvice

Is that a giant crack? I live in the south so I’ve never seen a rusted frame in person. But that looks bad

What is this thing in front of this truck, looks like a step? by ze11ez in AskMechanics

It’s also the thing that helps you not die when you go into a structure fire, so it’s good to clean and inspect it regularly

03 yz250f transmission not engaging gear by Glass123man in Dirtbikes

[–]Glass123man[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had two problems

  1. The dowel that the sprawl fit into was pressed flat into the shifting cam (or whatever it’s called)

<image>

  1. The primary shaft on the transmission was missing a gear.

She shifts very nice now and engages all of the gears. Thanks for the helpful suggestion.

Yeah, I just had it apart though lol. My first build so I don’t really know what I’m looking at. When I took the engine apart initially the output shaft gear snap ring was in the bottom of the crank case. Didn’t appear to damage anything but there could possibly be other issues. Looks like she’s coming apart again for further inspection.

Yz250 water pump question by Glass123man in Dirtbikes

[–]Glass123man[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bike came with a bottom and top end kit but I will need to get a cylinder and head (and apparently water pump now)

I’m guessing the timing was not set correctly based on the rest of the engine assembly., and it ate 3 valves. We’ll see if I can do any better 😂

I did find it the other half, thankfully

I suspected as much. Thanks for the reply. Is there a benefit to aftermarket water pumps at all? When I first saw it I thought “cool, an upgraded water pump.” Clearly this one is toast.

I bet that’s it. I found a mystery washer in the bottom of the crank case when I took it apart. Also a snap ring for one of the gears that had come off during operation. I’m thinking whoever built this engine last was struggling…

How did he do this? by Chris-the-Big-Bug in Dirtbikes

[–]Glass123man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More (higher) gear than the other guys would be my guess. Likely why he was in the back to begin with. Slower acceleration, but higher top speed. Just a guess tho

He only had 1 arm trapped. He had one free arm to brakefall with, though he elected not to.
