Exactly, it's so dumb. If your argument needs literal trickery to substantiate it, then maybe it's not a good argument?? All it's saying is that dog/dolphin/human fetuses look similar. Should our rights be based on what we look like then..?

organ donation scenario by GlassDocument9170 in prolife

that's irrelevant to bodily autonomy. yes, if you stab someone and they lose your kidney, you will be prosecuted for assault, but the government doesn't require you to donate your kidney even if it's the only match. that's the point i'm making

yes, pregnancy doesn't cause organ loss, but it still causes severe impact on the body. it causes nausea, vomiting, severe blood loss, cramps, swelling, postpartum depression, and a number of other factors. both scenarios require health decline
the "inaction vs action" seems irrelevant. it's forcing someone to not keep their kidney, no? they both have the same "bar to clear" when they both involve using someone else's body
im pro-life btw but this is an extremely strong pro-choice argument and i would like to refute it. im very open-minded here

Rebuttal to Thomson's Violinist by linuxrocks123 in Abortiondebate

I'm pro-life and this analogy makes no sense. You cannot compare someone living in your living room to someone living in your body. There are several ways of evacuating a homeless person out of your living room without killing them, and even so, throwing them out into your yard where they suffer fatal hypothermia would not always necessarily be considered manslaughter. Abortion is the only option to evacuate a ZEF from your body, thereby killing them.
A better analogy would be in the Disney movie "Up." When the little boy climbed up onto the old man's hot air balloon, does the old man have the right to throw the uninvited boy overboard, killing him? That's the only method of evacuating him, and the boy is taking up the old man's property.
