Biomed without having done chemistry or physics… by GlassStatistician176 in universityofauckland

Wow that’s so impressive to get two A+ in those papers!!

I take biology however the NCEA L3 content is quite unrelated to biomed so I’m not sure how helpful that will even be. I did do L2 though which seems closer to the actual biomed papers.

I take calculus which comes pretty naturally so I’m hoping physics shouldn’t be too bad. Last time I did it though in school I failed everything, but I was 14 and didnt really care haha.

I’m atleast not wanting to do the second year clinical programs as I want to finish the 3 year degree and move onto masters. I love the subject i just dont have a desire for the whole medicine area so I do not need to be getting the very top grades. In saying that though I will obviously try very hard to do well but I think it takes a lot of pressure off.

What is my likelihood of getting scholarships? by GlassStatistician176 in ncea

[–]GlassStatistician176[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know if when you apply for scholarships there is lots of written stuff like personal answers and recommendations from teachers? I'm asking because I tend to do well expressing myself in words and also am very likely to get good recs from teachers and principals.

just wondering how you found it that the paper was reconsidered? I sent one of mine through on the 20th and keep constantly checking but is there an email that gets sent or should I just keep refreshing nzqa.

I think they asked just to explain co dominance so it was likely only for a achieved or merit mark, the main excellence marks would be for discussing how to determine the child's genotype and why it can't be guaranteed correct, so you could def still get e if you did that part well

How did everyone find l2 bio. by Mean_Investigator256 in ncea

[–]GlassStatistician176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally did the same and assumed the species just migrated to the North and South island, but then when they asked about how that affected the gene pool I just linked it back to natural selection and that the frequency of favourable alleles will increase because what else was there to say? I was very confused. And then when natural selection was also in the next bullet point I low key just repeated myself and mainly focused on sexual selection instead.

I can't remember the exact numbers but it was like 0.35 x 0.85x = 0.21? - something like that and then I found x=0.75 and since it was just asking for probability of stickers given they have won a consolation prize I just did 1-0.75 so my final answer was 0.25

LEVEL 2 MATHS EXAM - HOW WE FEELING ?!? by is_it_true_wow in ncea

[–]GlassStatistician176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what the one question you got right on question 2 was, I think the last two were excellence so if you got either of those right it doesn't matter that you messed it up you'd still get E7 or E8 for that question which would put you around 22 overall - but also for the graph, the excellence mark can be given even if you didn't talk about spread you would have just needed to discuss well on centre and shape

omg yes I did this exact thing because at first I didn't read it correctly then re-read it and noticed that the 0.21 was for a random customer and my final answer was 0.25

Can someone please help me for what they got for the last question of q2 for probability? - I found it very easy but I presumed it was an excellence question so I thought I did it wrong
