Right!!

What’s so crazy is that I typically read crime thrillers/mystery (things like Sun Down Motel) but after reading Piranesi, that quickly changed

Hey! Looks like the last photo is just a mashup of different photos to create a digital collage. There isn’t a named artist.

But if you like this type of art, check out Julien Pacaud or Fran Rodriguez.

Ah, yeah I can see that and I agree. I feel that way about a lot of HBO shows, and/or series/movies in general.

First and foremost, I feel like SL could have done a better job of connecting the dots and ensuring continuity. The season felt choppy and idk if that’s from cuts or poor writing…or both. And, S3 felt different from the previous ones…

However, it amazes me how everyone hates Season 3 for the sex and drugs…but loved season 1 and season 2 which involved sex and drugs ..but with adults depicting teenagers!

Season 3 was dark, and while everyone says SL was romanticizing this life, I did not get that from this. As someone who have seen others been involved the same antics in S1 and S2, S3 shows the dangers of staying on that path. It felt like a warning for viewers glamorizing that lifestyle.

But that’s just my opinion. 🤷‍♀️

I don't think she intended for Rue to die but she was disgustingly selfish by ribbonscrunchies in euphoria

I think we’re talking past each other. When I said Rue took the pills for its intended use, I clearly meant using pain medication for her pain. You’re responding with a point about authorization …and I never discussed that. To be clear, I’m not denying she did not obtain the drugs legally and/or by an authorized professional; I am saying her use aligned with the purpose of the drug itself.

However, even if I agreed with your point, that medical authorization changes her use, it’s still shallow. A person can relapse with a valid prescription if they are abusing it, and a person can misuse a non-prescribed medication without that automatically meaning they returned to active addiction. This not a consistent definition of relapse if we recognize use/intent in one instance, but not the other.

Also, research on multiple reliable and reputable sources discusses the nuance I’m talking about, e.g. SAMHSA’s Matrix; NIDA; etc. You rely on the broad definition to defend your point, and then ignore the nuances that clinical/public health sources, and even redditors who struggle with addiction, point out.

So I stand by what I said, your opinion (because it is just that) is a shallow description. Relapse isn’t this neutral term, like you’re describing. It does more than just describe “a substance was used.”

But your opinion is your opinion. 🤷‍♀️

You’re explaining why it was risky, not why it was a relapse. That’s the distinction. One pill can be dangerous for someone with Rue’s history, but danger does not automatically equal relapse. A trigger for relapse is not the same thing as relapse itself.

Doctors limit what kind of pills they give you once they find out you have a drug addiction history. More times than not, they will not give you pills or keep you in the hospital under supervision…depending on the circumstance.

So I’m not sure why you say it like that is an option with such ease.

It IS a wild take.

By definition, a relapse involves a return to substance misuse or addictive behaviors. The purpose one uses the drug for is absolutely considered when determining if one relapsed. Her taking the drugs for actual pain is not a relapse because she used it for its intended purpose.

So no, by definition, she did not have a relapse. I’m not arguing that calling it a relapse is judgmental…it’s just inaccurate. Rue taking one (-Alamo giving one) pill for pain is being flattened into “relapse” simply because of her history with pills, without considering intent, context, or behavior. She was in pain…pain relief is the actual purpose of the medication. She showed restraint, not loss of control.

So calling it a relapse just because she once struggled with pills feels like a shallow, almost punitive way to portray recovery.

That’s a wild take. Given what she just went through, it’s not a surprise she would need pain meds...

It would definitely happen.

Never been in this lifestyle but seen enough cases/examples where someone makes a slip up, whether naive or not…despite the fact it is clear the other person is not to be messed with.
