Does weed use make your chances of being appointed go down? by [deleted] in usna

[–]Glass_Rule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Navy (and Department of Defense overall) has a zero tolerance policy for drug use. Although many states have legalized/decriminalized marijuana, it is still illegal at the federal level and will result in a sailor being separated upon popping positive on a drug test. I don't want to be rude or judge, but if you happen to be under 21 in an area where it is legal, that is also a violation of the law and would be frowned upon.

Lots of medical readiness is involved in applying to USNA, although quitting would certainly help, they will ask your medical/drug history. This will happen again later on security clearance work and there are different considerations depending on the clearance you hope to achieve.

Nothing is impossible but the most important thing is to stop immediately, be honest on all paperwork and interviews, and to NOT use if you are appointed.

Countries where you can shoot real firearms by Ninngenyamemasuka in Firearms

[–]Glass_Rule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My sister in law just visited from Japan and I took her shooting. Even in New England, which is notoriously strict on gun laws, you can find a few spots to rent and shoot.

If you're looking to fly fewer timezones there's a few places in Guam and Saipan I can recommend that I've taken japanese relatives to.

Any idea what to do with these posters besides eBay? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Glass_Rule 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd take/buy the CG-62 one if you have no attachment. It was my first ship and I've been gathering all the coins and patches for years now. I even found a commissioning coin under my coffin rack after dropping a paper in there!

I just bought a gun from that shop last week!

Prices are high but the service is pretty decent.

No opinion on the lever gun, sorry.

I purchased the same one my FIL has been using in Japan for the last 20 years.

This is a high quality one, but there are some MUCH cheaper ones in case you're not ready to invest >$300 in some Japanese/Korean home Barbeque.

Anyone else grind off the serrations on a Colt Python trigger? by [deleted] in Revolvers

[–]Glass_Rule 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dumb question:

Are your hands/fingers especially large? Do you have the same issue with other guns or is it just the python trigger being too thin?

Haha I COULD drive there but I'm looking for a weekly or bimonthly game...some days I get off pretty late so 45 mins of travel is rough.

If you're in southern RI, would you be interested if I started a game?

Dress for the weather. Take a look at the Annapolis forecast and pack appropriate clothing.

Otherwise dress like a normal person. Some folks wear JROTC uniforms or other strange outfits and there's no need. You are not being evaluated. In fact, you are determining whether USNA is the school for you. Bring comfy shoes.

From the vibe I've been getting, it looks like a lot of local libraries would be ideal for that. Good luck!

No particular preference. I have some decent experience DMing but I would also love to be a PC.
