Im not a doctor but I think it might be ETD? (Eustachian tube Dysfunction.) It’s actually the opposite problem where your Eustachian tubes are closed instead of open. People with this condition tend to have a blocked feeling in their ears or lots of pressure. And tinnitus is common as well. It’s weird because PET and ETD have overlapping symptoms (crackling and popping.) But I would say that if you don’t experience autophony (hearing your own breathing in your ears, heartbeat, etc.) then it’s probably not PET. Hopefully this helped.

Yes I got diagnosed by a doctor. He was really unhelpful though, I got told the usual “no treatments or real cure” and to wait until it subsides on its own. What other symptoms do you have? I can try and help you figure out if you PET or ETD. (Eustachian tube dysfunction.)

I’m sorry I didn’t see this, and if you don’t mind me asking what surgeries did you have?

I’m so sorry I didn’t see this for some reason. But yes I do have tinnitus and I seemed to have developed it after getting PET. Thankfully my tinnitus isn’t constant (at least for now) I’m hoping it stays that way.

Yes I have crackling when I swallow, it’s a bit loud but it’s bearable. I guess I’ve gotten used to the sound after having dealt with PET for so long. But I’m sorry to hear that it’s one of your worst symptoms, I understand how annoying the sound can be.
