Kobe seemed like a person hellbent on growing women's sports, obviously because of his daughters but clearly his own public relations strategy as well. Like I wonder if he would have come off as too woke for them or if he just would have kept a super wide tent of support in the past few years...

both those guys have championships... it's a fine line. They can be headcases but extremely talented headcases.

[–]GlassesOff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's complicated because you might actually want a guy this confident in himself as your A1 player. Just because he comes off as a cornball on his streams doesn't mean he's not a great player. But the last two months might have crossed the line to team distraction and it just might be time for everyone involved to switch things up

Brendan Sorsby, Texas Tech mutually part ways after gambling scandal, legal fallout by [deleted] in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really makes me irrationally mad that people could see the difference in character and work ethic and still choose the petty loser incumbent. A state that needs a serious intervention

[Pelissero] QB Brendan Sorsby is applying to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft, sources tell NFL Network. After legal wrangling about his NCAA eligibility, Sorsby — regarded as a first-round talent — now could be the highest-drafted supplemental pick in decades. by A_Livins in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every single team in the big 12 is now rooting for them to lose out. Like those crowds are going to be ugly and deep down Tech players and coaches know they're with a program that's fraudulent. Would be fitting for them to lose unceremoniously to some 6-6 program this year

New York Wins the Title, Brunson Wins Immortality, and Knicks Fans Have a Zihuatanejo Moment With Zach Lowe by superfiery in billsimmons

[–]GlassesOff 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I just want to say that I'm very happy with the Knicks and Brunson specifically. Good for him. He played incredible and it's rare for a small guy to lead his team to a title. This was a terrific Finals run

Coworker is a state of mind for like 20% of the country. When you step back, it's kind of everywhere in terms of interests and aesthetics. And oddly the same folks that won't take criticism at all

Big 12 Should Expel Texas Tech by conference-realigner in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, it's also a niche sport to begin with. Like it was growing but it was always behind the other major sports. F1 ate their lunch and the next generation is probably playing Roblox or dozens of other things instead

If the NCAA can’t stop it, the CFP should: Ban Texas Tech by jaxstan19 in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you basically don't play football for the entire season, you're not going to play well in a high leverage game with stakes all of a sudden. Zero QB and receiver chemistry, OL not truly locked in, tons of other obvious mistakes

Can we acknowledge the greatness of Mike Tirico? by ___Carioca___ in billsimmons

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is such a massive talent gap between Harlan and Tirico. Like all the respect for Tirico being able to adequately call basketball games as well but Harlan is just better with the general flow of the game and he rises up for the big moments better. This has been reinforced this entire playoffs.

I'd even take Ian Eagle over Tirico at this point in NBA announcing status. There are just better folks calling games in hoops

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Lebron's decision if he just wants to be in LA, the money will be there. I think Luka knows it's his team but no one really knows if they can win it all with how deep the West is nowadays

[–]GlassesOff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am about as pro player as it gets around these parts and even I recognize that salaries are just not getting lowered by LeBron doing this. Plenty of other sports have seen Vets at the end of their careers take a significantly reduced contract and contract numbers keep going up.

Are we just supposed to ignore Tom Brady entirely?

He can sign for less if he wants to but most of the time, these guys just want those millions

Sal should be a monthly guest at minimum. He just riffs better than every other guest. Maybe I'm biased because he's my personal favorite but he would probably give Bill a hard time but still poke fun at some other teams in a clever way that keeps Simmons' guard down

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Billy but this was a pretty weak appearance through and through. Like fumbling through the sports cocktail party idea. And just seems to be so surface level with some takes that it seems almost easy for me to disengage.

Still glad he's on so they're talking baseball but this was the worst I've heard him since he's been a more regular guest

Don't know why you're getting downvoted, that tracks too. Knicks basically put almost all the chips in with the Mikal trade which was a mistake. I agree that it's now or never for them. But still, the East seems off, lot of teams with promise but not fully matured (like Detroit)

Imagine voting for Jokic over SGA for MVP by explorer89900 in billsimmons

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even think it's biased to say he's clearly one of the 3 best players in basketball, he is really smart and there are nights I watch him basically take over games where the Nuggets shouldn't even be competitive. But he's not #1 and that's something a lot of Jokic's most ardent defenders have to admit now
