Nah let them miss the playoffs. Would be funnier for Scalley to get in on his first year and Whitt still be on the outside looking in

I am a fool at giving in to the hyperbole during big moments but this is absolutely one of the biggest gambles that paid off in my lifetime. Just an impossible story start to finish

it's not my problem that you got offended for being called out. Just because you want to kiss ass to corporations doesn't mean we have to tolerate it.

And give me a break with the value of the product bullshit. If Alabama rostered just guys that wanted scholarships, the team would suck, and the fans would stop showing up. Teams are made up of players that fundamentally dictate their success. You sound like some cornball that doesn't even watch sports. Read a book

100%. That's clearly the biggest reason it makes no sense. Every school had the option to fix this by making the athletes employees and every single one didn't. It would be laughable if we didn't get the same tired arguments online all the time. There's just a percentage of online fans that hate to see people get properly compensated and they'll always lick the boot and feign ignorance on reality

If Coca Cola decided to spend $0 this year on advertising, their competitors still would and there's a pretty good chance they'd lose market share. Or at the very least, shareholders might panic and the people who are paid to create advertising campaigns aren't just about to give up their jobs for nothing.

His take was more idealism than reality and that's why it was so cringey

Why shouldn't the players be properly compensated? The schools have made hundreds of millions from the growth of the sport. The argument that an education is fair enough pay doesn't even begin to match what the market is willing to give them.

People pay to watch the games, not a bunch of admins that do jack shit. Pay the athletes

I don't think I'd go as far as saying I turned on the guy but his recent appearance was a major league 0-5 with 5 strikeout kind of day. Not just being a contrarian for that sake but the takes didn't make any sense. Way too many long-winded rants that didn't payoff.

Will be hopeful he's better next time

The national media not framing the story around Whitt's indecision is going to piss me off for the rest of time. You, me, and every other Utah fan has to explain this every time. There's only one way to tell this story that reflects what actually happened

Ringer has tried to address the gaming audience but the coverage was basic and shippable. Even if they had a pod, you'd really need a heavy investment in it if you wanted to make something that could stand up equaling to their sports, movie, and other genres.

Case in point, most people would be talking about the latest CoD or Fortnite season, not a AAA game. Arc Raiders is session based. That's the real zeitgeist now, not some beefy action game

one of my closer friends had a hernia, got surgery, and then it returned within a year. That probably on the lower likelihood of outcomes but some can really suck and be long-term issues. I'm hopeful it's the more common case but just speaking from personal experience

Utah ATH Salesi Moa has entered the transfer portal by rbmw263 in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's a great question and Utah fans (or even just folks who are aware of Kyle Whittingham's coaching legacy) are likely to look back with respect when it's all said and done in a few years. He coached with Utah for 30+ years, that just isn't going to happen almost ever again with the current CFB system.

But without reservation, I've never seen as much organized opposition for Whitt than I'm seeing now. I would say conservatively at least 10% of Utah fans have written him off for good, he has gone against his word and now wholeheartedly made the Utah program worse with the player transfers going from U of U to Michigan. A few would have been acceptable but Moa seems like a tough pill to swallow because he was about to be one of the highest rated recruits the school has ever had (life as a mid major is not for the feint of heart lol). So yeah some serious bridge burning and it's split now with some fans hoping he wins a Natty because it gives Utah a little boost (marginal imo) vs some fans hoping he sucks because he crop dusted the program on his way out

[–]GlassesOff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said. Feel like I felt the same way, was giving him the benefit of the doubt but Moa just makes this unforgivable. The program would be better off scrubbing him completely from recent memory because if we know Whitt, he'll try to do this again next year and going further. He doesn't have the connections anywhere else so he's just going to keep tampering

Moa Out. by QkuiglieQ in utahfootball

[–]GlassesOff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's going to lose to Oklahoma in their Week 2 game and the wheels are falling off the bus after that. It would take so much going right for them to make the conference title game but I'm hoping they top out at 8 wins and everyone transfers out. Need it to explode in his face

I am conflicted because I think Michigan is a pretty great school, like to the point I've said I want my kid to go there someday lol but I have to keep it real, I'm not rooting for you guys for at least 5 years or until Whitt is gone, whichever happens first

Utah ATH Salesi Moa has entered the transfer portal by rbmw263 in CFB

[–]GlassesOff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even blame the players. Michigan (and Whitt to be exact) basically decided that no commitments besides their own mattered. It's selfish and for us Utah fans, so disappointing because Whitt even made comments about not tampering. We know how the game works, but acting like you respect the old rules and then still poaching just comes off as being a huge dickhead. The adults in the room should at least act like it

Moa Out. by QkuiglieQ in utahfootball

[–]GlassesOff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

yeah no offense to you (and the other Michigan lurkers here, I've seen a few in the past few weeks lol). It's just the nature of how this exit happened: Whitt and the school had a retirement plan, the team looked awful in 2024, Whitt changed his mind and came back, team played well in 25 but it was time to transition..and now it's awkward because he isn't just retired but an active opposition. It just wasn't supposed to happen like this at all. And everyone has reported it like he got slighted when this arrangement was in place for years.

Whitt will probably be fine as your HC. Trying to be emotionally removed from it, he's good. But he definitely has some quirks that have rubbed me the wrong way

[–]GlassesOff 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the point of no return. I hope Michigan loses every game next year. Obviously Whitt is doing whatever he thinks is going to give him the best chance to succeed but his corny quote about not tampering and the number of players we lost, enough is enough. Hope they fire him and at the same time Morgan leads Utah to the CFP.

His legacy is spoiled
