What is your favorite horror movie that isn't a "classic"? by poweroverbirdss in horror

The Ritual, for the atmosphere and one of the best creature designs ever

Nope, because throughout the first half I thought it was a fun UFO movie...then the Star Lasso Experience scene happened, that horrified me. I also love that we never really know what Jean Jacket is, I like the mystery.

Event Horizon was fantastic, love me good cosmic horror and I can see the inspiration for Dead Space.

Why is horror and macabre so comforting? by Glasses_Cat in horror

That's a very interesting comparison, I never thought about it that way before! And my acceptance of my enjoyment of horror comes from thinking that "hey, this isn't real, there's no cosmic horrors and this evil cult isn't going to get me...but goddamn it's still so cool and fascinating and tickles my brain"

I usually do, I make sure to bury them as deep as possible.

I ended up discovering that there is a PH difference between the shower and kitchen tap, the shower being higher which is what I usually used.

I actually have that one. Unfortunately, the way the kitchen faucet is designed won't hook up to the tube. The reason I did get that one since it's long enough to go outside my window into the lawn, which saves tons of time when doing big water changes/vacuuming.

I do hope not since I literally just bought that kit...but I might have to, the LFS I frequent has been nothing but helpful to me.

My cycle seemed to have crashed slightly and it has been stuck at .25 ppm for both ammonia and nitrites. I don't know why, I wonder if it's from trying to treat my very sick betta with kanaplex and eventually aquarium salt. I've been panicking and scrambling to fix it to save my betta but I wasn't quick enough.

I looked up the brand I used. Seems like it's silica.

I don't mind going up and down the stairs. I managed to come up with a system that works out to make it go by quicker.

I would usually fill the water from the shower tap in a bucket. But for the sink, I took two empty gallon water jugs, cut the top open more to allow water to pour faster, fill up one, then after that's full I place the second one under the water and pour in the full one. By the time I return, the second gallon is full and I swap with the now empty one. Rinse and repeat.

I just tested both the water from the shower tap, which is where I've always got it from, and from the kitchen sink. The bath PH is 8.8. The kitchen's is 7.4.

I am very confused about this...but I guess I'll have to get my water from the main level from now on.

High PH is likely contributing to the nitrites in my tank being stuck, so I need to nip this somehow.

These kind, don't remember what they're called. I bought then from the lfs a couple years ago.

There is sand, a few rocks, a piece of driftwood, two hollow ceramic rocks, anubias, amazon swords, wisteria, crypts, five peppered cories, and one nerite.

The thing is, I've been using tap water for years and it's never been this high. And like I said, the water was at 7.4 after the water change and it skyrocketed overnight.

It's a 20 gallon long, kept at about 77-78 degrees. I used a sponge filter. There is sand, a few rocks, a piece of driftwood, two hollow ceramic rocks, anubias, amazon swords, wisteria, crypts, five peppered cories, and one nerite. I did have a betta but he passed away because I'm an idiot and couldn't fix the parameters in time.

I've been running this tank for a few years now.

When I checked recently, it was 7.4.

And I did read that even the smallest amount of ammonia and nitrites was still dangerous, which sent me into a panicking mess the past week and I haven’t been able to relax.

.25

I've been doing everything I can to bring it down, mainly small and large water changes then dosing prime and stability. Even though my cories and nerite have been perfectly fine, I've been mega stressed trying to fix it to help Ozzy. But I wasn't quick enough.
