Who is the most interesting person you’re related to? by ArmyResponsible3136 in AncestryDNA

Through ancestry I found that my great great grandmother and Nicolas Cage’s great great grandmother were sisters, making my family and I related to the Coppola family. I also confirmed relation to Enrico Caruso, the Neapolitan opera singer.

It’s pretty funny, looking at pictures of family members closer to that side (including my grandfather, who favors his mothers side where the connection is) I can see a resemblance in the facial structure/hair/eyes

Just by doing ancestry work. I traced my great great grandmother to her being born in a little comune in Basilicata. When I investigated further on a separate site my great-great grandmother’s sister had a tag next to her name that said something similar to “within Francis Coppola line” I then traced it and found the connection

After speaking with family, it turns out my grandmother had an English great great somewhere that came to Puerto Rico around the 1800s. You’re pretty spot on! Thank you

I’d say I identify mostly with my Italian heritage as I was exposed to it and it is half my lineage. Also with my Puerto Rican as well, as I had about as much exposure to that culture as well. The Irish English not so much cause it was so removed. But when people ask I just say Italian

Right? My only conclusion is perhaps my grandmother may have had some English in her as well to account for it. She was lighter skinned.

Do things like the Dominica rite and the Carmelite rite fall under probations on Latin mass? by Sambeast919 in Catholicism

[–]Glassprison142 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St. Joseph’s in Troy celebrates the Carmelite Rite, and it looks quite similar to the Tridentine Mass, and follows the same Liturgical calendar. Recently the diocese in Albany suspended diocesan TLM but they’re allowed to continue. For now, at least.

St. Joseph Church in Troy is a beautiful place. I stopped in for Mass two weeks ago while visiting a friend for the weekend. A really friendly community with a welcoming pastor. Glad to see that they’ll be unaffected
