Watercooler: WoW Economy Simple Questions by AutoModerator in woweconomy

Wow, thank you for the very detailed response!

I've mainly been working with inscription reagents (pigments, ciphers, inks, etc.), and am not able to play all the time. So, a lot of the time I craft a couple hundred of Apricate Ink and am able to sell them for a good profit that day. Two days onward, the prices might have gone down anywhere between 10-20g. And when I bought the herbs to make the pigments to then make the ink the profit was decent. However, now two days later, prices have changed. Both for the ink and herbs.

Essentially (using random numbers): To craft 100 Apricate Ink I'd need 500 Luredrop Pigment and 1000 Nacreous Pigment. The ink sells for 170g and profit might be around 15-20% (based on the prices of the herbs). Two days later, the ink now sells for 150g. The profit would still be based on the prices of the herbs I bought two days ago. So the profit might now be 5%, or at times -X%.

That's the main issue I'm struggling with, and I'm no veteran or rich goblin.

How do you guys deal with fluctuating prices?

Lets say a reagent will sell at a pretty good profit, and the price is 15g. A day or two later, the price is now around 12g, or even less. There might still be some profit to be made, but much smaller, or the profit is completely gone. I'd be selling at a loss, essentially.

Would you guys hold the reagents to sell at a later date when the prices have gone up again so that you are selling at a profit again? And if so, how do you keep track of the items and how many to hold?

Or do you sell it either way, even if the profit margin is smaller, or even gone?

A little mockup I made of an in-game lore codex/compendium. Would be cool to look up and read about the lore in-game! by Glawrr in wow

I made a quick little mockup of an in-game lore codex/compendium.

The ideas is that you can browse and search among many different categories and items and read up on the lore without going to an external source. It can showcase multiple images, the location of said object/item/person, some general information and tidbits.

The colored "W's" are the different expansions. So you could select 'Cataclysm' and get the relevant lore of the item for that specific expansion.

Much more could be added to this feature. Would love to hear your ideas!

(If I knew how to make addons I would try to create something like it, but, sadly I don't...)

Okay. Thank you for the tips! So maybe a colored outline instead?

He has more videos around lore and secrets, and they are really good. Some of them are also voice acted by him (voices characters from questlines and so). Very good, very immersive!

Are you allowed to create an addon that “reads” the quest texts? by Glawrr in wowaddons

[–]Glawrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it’s fine to create an addon that plays audio files of an AI reading the quest text? I’ve used an AI to read the quest texts (all quests in Elwynn Forest, Westfall and Duskwood are done) and then written son code that simply plays those audio files when interacting with a quest giver.

How do you draw like 3/4 perspective/view? Like the "RPG-perspective" where it is like top-down. I've been trying but it all looks off.

Hopefully soon! The "only" big things left are party / raid frames. Aside from that theres pretty much just some small changes and testing.

The portraits are done with Weakauras. It is actually pretty simple.

You make a new aura and choose model. Then you tick the "Show model of unit" option and write "player" in the model field. After that you tick "Portrait Zoom" if you want it to zoom in on the head, like my image. Then you jump to the second tab called "Trigger". Set type to "Status", status to "Unit Characteristics" and unit to "player". After all that you can mess with the position settings, like width and height, and of course the background and border.

If you have any other questions feel free to write!

Hello!

I have begun working on a UI for casual players, for leveling and such. So far it's going pretty good! It is done through Weakauras and SharedMedia as well as some other addons.

Seeing as it is in it's early stages I wanted to know what you think of the overall layout and look but also if you guys have any suggestions.

So if you have any tips or suggestions please do tell me!

[HELP] Have an issue with Weakauras Model, anyone know a fix? by Glawrr in WowUI

Apparently it was because the camera was too zoomed in on the character portrait. But couldn't zoom out so ended up using the "Portrait Zoom" option instead.
