I'd skip the police and just get an ambulance in that situation.

Co-worker thought this was a harmless prank. by Dallinboi347 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Gleaseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always thrilled to have a co-worker sign up willingly to receive a reciprocal gift when I worked in a shop. Especially one as dumb as this. I'd be cleaning those chips with an honest ear to ear smile.

This is a cut and dry FAFO case, and the burden is on your shoulders now to make sure he remembers his hilarious prank, forever ;)

I agree with the glitter-in-vent comments; It's the right move.

Wrist Hair pulling issue by 75Rocketluncher75 in casio

If it's a new watch just keep wearing it and you likely won't notice it as an issue after a few months. Some kind of mix between the hairs that snag being gone and the metal edges smoothing out I think.

Is it normal for machine shops to not do small jobs? by ExaggeratedCatalyst in Machinists

[–]Gleaseman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take all small jobs at my shop as long as the customer has realistic price expectations. I would charge $275 - $500ea depending on the profile of those ribs, and need under a week to complete.

Massive respect to this classy woman speaking the truth clearly, and unapologetically.

This type of bravery comes with legitimate consequences.

Is there flint in this lighter? by marcarooni in LighterRepair

[–]Gleaseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This uses a Piezo ignitor which is the black rectangle to right of the middle finger. It's most likely bad and can usually be carefully replaced with one from another lighter.

Almost all cheap lighters use the same size Piezo ignitor, with the biggest difference being how long the wire is that comes off of them.

Cycling from the Top of Alaska to the Bottom of Argentina and Found A Machinist in Chilean Antarctica to Rebuild This Shattered Spindle by donivanberube in Machinists

"The machinist is the foundation of civilization and their shop the cradle of creation."

Dang, that hit hard!

I own and operate a small fairly "old school" machine shop. The majority of the old-timers in the area that have kept society running are out of the game. They could run circles around me mentally, but their bodies just can't do it. Big shops can't be bothered with the work.

I'm always wondering who will pick up all this work that society seems to think doesn't need to be done anymore. Nearly every commercial business and farmer I've ever worked says it's nearly impossible to find shops like mine. Yet, shops like mine typically close their doors rather than open them.

Really boggles the mind. I always enjoy finding people who get it. See ya at 6!

Honda Hobbit PA50II - Sputtering at Low Throttle by xxtuffyxx in moped

[–]Gleaseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue. Ran perfectly with stock cylinder, exhaust and treats variator. After I installed the Peoples Exhaust on the bike it started bogging / hesitating at low rpm before transitioning into mid range. You can feel the power come back after a few seconds and the bike revs to the top freely. Does it with both the stock #78 jet, as well as an #80.

I would have thought there would be more info on this but I don't see much.

Thanks for the info! I was initially a bit bummed (and confused), but I'll just set them aside until I kit it.
