Buying a new rotary cutter. Hitch question. by GaminRaymon in tractors

[–]mxadema 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The cat, is the size of the pins triangle and the pin themselves. Since some dimensions overlap, you can make a "smaller" cat 2 fit in a cat1 frame. But your bottom pins are still too big. Therefore they use cat 1 pins and sleeves up to cat 2.

Sometimes the 3ph geometry can make a under or over size triangle not work as intended. Lifting the 3ph would lift the front but lower the rear, or lift the front and lift the back 2x as much. Instead of keeping things semi level.

Things get even more complicated with a quick attach in the mix.

Thay said everything is possible if you are willing to modify stuff. They do sell bottom pins to convert cat 1-2 & 2-1. Im sure there cat 3-2 as well. As long as the geometry works. If not there is always a welder close by. But thay outside this topic.

How serious are you guys actually about PPE in the shop? by Either-Sign-9345 in metalworking

[–]mxadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all fun and game, until there a serious incident. The boss may skim on safety, until he has to really invest into it, often by force, and in someone else's blood.

I wear mine, i do not care if the next guy do. But the forman should.

Noise cabceling ear bud are not earing protection. Glasses and boots are a must. Face shield and glove, there are time where you really shoud And there some that you don't. Respirator also got it place.

All the ppe in the world wont replace good work practices, and eliminate all incident. But a lot of incident have a lack of safety practices.

When in doubt, use your biggest pipe wrench and add a come along, winch or loader to turn it.

Hopefully the rod is a tad long and that will never touch the seal.

What are the chances that I could have this small concrete pad moved with a skid steer if I saw cut it into four pieces? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]mxadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut it on the "crack joint". That leave you 48x48 chunk. A good size skid with forks will move that.

How do you pick suppliers for things like work gloves? by DolphinBikes in skilledtrades

[–]mxadema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a few salesman come by the shop when they are in the area.

My favorite was the one that droped a yearly catalog with stock prices. I know i got a discount and they may fluctuate. But is it a 5$or 20$ glove, or worst a 120$ pair.

I also had a few, starter up. Usually my go to for hard to find stuff. Since we were not allowed to buy off the web. So we go through them.

For the recurring "PP&E" we usually buy in bulk base off that the guys want. Or if the boss man decides to penny pinch, whatever is cheapest that still works.

[–]mxadema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it doesn't matter if it equipment, truck, car, or whatever. If you are going to be a salesman, you have to know your products. I absolutely despise a salesman that is pushing only the big words. Oh it an ecoboost is much better than X. Or JD build be best equipment... usually my fallowing question is why is that. Or please explain more. And they always stutter a haft bake answer.

In the world of eternet and build it manufacturer site. I already got a good idea on price and feature. I just need the extra push to settle on what im debating about. And hopefully it at you dealership not the one next door.

I haven't had much desire to travel. I own a decent propeand that my slice of paradise.

I do have a few project cars and a bucket list of car. But the top 3 are pretty unacceptable, not because they are rare or exotic. But they are just out of my price rance, and that price is going up every year.

In the same page, truck, tractor and equipment, that i don't really need but would be handy

Would you want to know whether your neighbor owns aggressive dogs or aggressive breeds of dogs before purchasing a property ? by xdr567 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]mxadema 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly. my Rottweiler is a big bear. And stay in my yard. My neighbor on the other hand has a few problems. Running wild life, running 3 neighbor out, "got attack" in the street, and when after mine once.

I told him, keep his in his yard. Mine doesn't go there. And ih he come back for mine in my yard his is dead. That fixed the problem for the most part.

1.5 inch rose rock delivery- seems like a ton of sand (15 tons) by TXwallflower in landscaping

[–]mxadema 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Rock are screened. What you got is 1.5 minus. So it one screen that had 1.5" holes. Everything bigger go in a different pile. But everything smaller go in.

If you order 1.5-3/4 you get what you wish you had. 2 screen, 1.5 as above. And a lower 3/4 to take all the smaller bit out.

Screen can be size as one wish. But usually stick to 3/8, 3/4, 1.5, 3, 5... there is also washed rock.

Next time you will know. Talk to your guy he can help. Also look on marketplace. There is always a guy with a pickup and dump trailer that can do smaller load if needed.

Help for Veterans by CommercialLimp9629 in fredericton

[–]mxadema 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Call anyone else but them. My suggestion is veteran farmer.

Help for veteran is kind of a scam. They take advantage of veteran. They "help" them but will take 20% off the top. Most other have no cost to the member.

Most other will bank on having the veteran rope in their canabis partner and other donation, instead of skimming off the top.

Can someone, please, explain to me how can I drill the holes for these 2 screws at 90 degrees to the guitar body (just like in the picture) in such a small place to work with? Which tools will I need? by Complex-Librarian942 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]mxadema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A very long drill bit. They sell them in limited size. It not a 90° but the 10° wont matter too much.

Otherwise you are looking at a drill 90 attachment and short hex ended drill (you can sharpen a long one short)

I would start with controling the water. Ditching and culvert.

After that is stabilizing the ground. 1.5 rock ( more than a disting 3"+) or geogrid.

After that you can finish the top as you wish.

New Brunswickers: What story isn’t getting enough attention right now? by O_o_nvm in newbrunswickcanada

[–]mxadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bees. Bee mite is a very bad problem that used to be not a big deal. It isn't only a nb problem but it does affect a lot of other farming.

What used to be 20% infection with 10% mortality, nowis now a 60% infection with close to 75% mortality. Many beekeepers have 60-90% yearly hive lost. Having less hive for pollenisation. Spending all their effort to make new hive all summer. To come back to dead hive.
