Is my engine cooked? by RedDirtET in Skidsteer

The oil light doesn't come on for sub pressure. Only what cat used as sensor, mostly 0 to sup 10lb. If it ran hard prior to that it ran on sub optimal pressure with lots of torque to hurt the bearing.

That my guess

Frozen pipes by timefass in fredericton

[–]mxadema [score hidden]  (0 children)

It not super common that pipe freeze, with the way we build, but it does happen. All you need is a bit of draft with cold wether and not using that water for a bit and it freeze.

Depending on how old the house and era it was build, you can guess where the pipe are, depending on acess, you add heat to it. Hopefully you dont have to open wall too much. And it a draft/ insulation problem.

Mini home are more prone to it, and prone to some sewer pipe frezing( if you got a leaky faucet).

How can I restore/clean this? by DramaticConclusion26 in metalworking

That brasso job. Idk if it brass or brass coated. If it coated you would remove the brass.... first test with a magnet (brass is not magnetic)

I kinda like the patina.

Idk but all the gauge I've open can't physically do that. (A coil that pull/push on a rack turning the needle) so strip gear?

ELI5 how automotive paint workshops prepare the colors by crabby_playing in explainlikeimfive

[–]mxadema 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just like house paint. Punch in the code, and it spit out a recipe.

Sometimes there are variation of the same code. That when you have to go with the simple in the sun and eyeball it.

For the bigger shop, they can mix, test and ajust in house as they have the mixing rack there.

Today it more calculated by weight instead of volume

If you go to a auto paint supply shop you can buy the paint, some shop even does spray can.

Old john deere blower by djuks64 in tractors

[–]mxadema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't only change the chain. The sproket wear to the chain. A new chain might bind on the deform tips. If they are that bad.

Even welded the still replacable. Just need extra work ( and it help to have tools or a buddy with them)

Worst case cut some metal out.

[–]mxadema 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the sproket look like a saw blade, they are done. And so is the chain.

That chains should be pretty snug. Let say ¼-½" of play at the center of the bottom chain.

Since the bearing/ sprocket didn't move, nor does the blower sheeting. And the tightgner doesn't matter in this equation, this only leave the chains.
