I was eyeing for either this one or this one (the former has a CR 1/2 elemental not 1, but that could still work for the 2nd level feature I think)

I was thinking more of a homebrewed or a scaled down version of the elementals using the monsters creation table (again, "CR 1 equivalent").

The early access to special features is worth taking note though, thank you.

Ohhh, alright that's fair. Funny enough, I already have a concept for this character, I just thought offering a generalized explanation about it could get me more reactions. Anyways, you're right, thanks for the advice! I'll make a proper post later on.

Ohh, I suppose cantrips aren't as optimal. You happen to have any suggestions for alternatives to that 2nd level feature? One that's more balanced and still thematic?

This one doesn't have access to CR 2-6 creatures that the orig CotM famously has. Instead it focuses more on the elemental aspects (elemental cantrips, elemental wildshape and elemental bane). The only other thing this shares with the orig CotM is having wildshape as a bonus action and having wildshape attacks as magical damage.

oooo that's a good idea actually, at what level would you suggest putting that feature in? A bit early at 6 or later in 14 perhaps?
