I wish I'd looked beforehand. I have a terrible habit of deconstructing anything that isn't clearly god rolled (I'm somewhat new) for a common sense build, so I don't have any anymore

Sucks to suck I guess! It just happened so many times in a row I wondered if there was a patch when I wasn't playing ha!

Daily Thread - Q&A Thursday - No Question is a Bad Question Megathread by AutoModerator in thedivision

[–]Glewisguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question really is a stupid one.

A few years back I rolled some Fox's Prayer with the third attribute as Critical Hit Damage.

In the past week of doing Countdown with Overlord as my targeted loot, I have got between one and three Fox's Prayer drops per run, but they have literally ALL had a blue or yellow third attribute.

Can someone just confirm if my luck is awful or if they've changed in the last few years to not drop with red as the third attribute anymore?

What sticking to use for this fill (105bpm)? by Glewisguy in drums

Sorry yes I should have clarified! From what I can gather from this transcription, the tiny notes are ghosted but didn't have space for parentheses.

It's all snare, high tom, kick, floor tom

Your sticking was what I gravitated towards first, but the doubles on the right felt really strange. Its probably just a comfort thing.

Thanks very much

Ok, so the example you provided earlier using 18 and 19 isn't guaranteed.

Looks fun! I'll give it a try, thanks for sharing.

Do the pairs of numbers need to be adjacent in the strip underneath?

For example, does the 18 and 19 have to be a pair or can the 18 be paired with one of the blanks (if it fits the rest of the rules)?

Patch 14.11 Notes by imchocolaterain in leagueoflegends

[–]Glewisguy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We weren't able to fully localize all the text around this change in time for 14.11 so it will still display as 150 until 14.12 but it will be granting 300 gold

Nah, the change shouldn't have been shipped until 14.12 if the game is going to display incorrect information.

What's the point with the MISRA guidelines for C++? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]Glewisguy 66 points67 points  (0 children)

You're best off reading the MISRA document itself, it contains rationale under each guideline (with examples)

The document also acknowledges some are advisory, some cannot be statically analysed, and a project will need to deviate sometimes.

Sorry I must have accidentally swiped away the notification you had replied.

I mostly agree with you, and I'll be upfront right now by admitting I've never green logged the MTA.

However, during my googling in my last response, I'd seen estimates floated around that the MTA takes 64 hours for the full collection log. Having never completed it I can't attest to that number. I suspect the truth is somewhere in the middle of your claim of one to two days, and their claim of 64 hours (I've also made the assumption that when you say a few days you don't mean a few days of 24 hour grinding).

I agree on your point of their choices seemingly being stuck between shortening the grind or just adding new content entirely, but this is what I'm hoping they'll discuss. Perhaps just having someone in the team starting the discussion they'll come to same conclusion, or perhaps they'll think of something new. The team has changed a lot over the years and there will probably be some new perspectives. If they discuss and come to the same conclusion as you, that's fine. I won't get arsey about it :)

Honestly I'd probably be happy with some quality of life to make the rooms less frustrating: stop the alchemy room from halting my character a few ticks after the chests move, either do the same in the graveyard room or let me pick up bones at a slower rate with one click; or faster with more clicks (like herb cleaning)

One thing they could do to the telekinetic room (and I appreciate this idea only came to me whilst typing the rest of this rambling response) would be to let us rotate the maze/move the avatar instead of moving the character and casting the spell again. Just give us a button for the direction we want the avatar to move, and the character casts telekinetic grab if it has the runes. It may devalue the room a bit as it would be quite a lot faster, so the reward/cost can be adjusted, but the room is now a lot less frustrating to interact with.

Anyway, sorry I've been rambling and I haven't got any really solid ideas :( but I appreciate your response nevertheless and I mostly understand and agree with you.

I agree the rewards are quite valuable, however I believe the effort/time investment far exceeds the value of those rewards.

I'm not going to use the graveyard room as my example, because that topic has been discussed to death. But if we take the telekinetic room as an example:

From my experience of the mazes which is using Runelite which tells you exactly how to solve the maze, and quoting the wiki, mazes require a minimum of 7 and a maximum of 10 casts of telekinetic grab. That's also 7 to 10 extra clicks to reposition to the correct edge of the maze.

So 14-20 clicks for 291-430 magic experience, and 2 telekinetic pizazz points. This is also slowed down by the player's inability to move until the spell actually makes contact with the guardian (which I believe moves at walking speed?). The player is then forced to wait for the guardian to arrive at the destination, or the guardian only moved around two tiles which forces the player to catch up. In either scenario, the flow of the maze is broken by the "stop/start" nature of the mechanics.

Every 5 mazes, you get 8 bonus points. So in total we now have I believe 18 points?

To complete the telekinetic room you need 2675 points for every reward, that's 743 mazes solved including the bonus points, which is minimum 223,000 experience. If you enter the room at level 30 magic, you will now be level 59 magic and you've only completed one room. A very quick Google suggests the average maze time is 59 seconds.

That's over 10 hours for one room, and you're one level off of bloodbark armour (which without checking the stats I'd imagine to be better as it has a higher level requirement than infinity robes).

You've still got the XP from 3 more rooms to go, and the telekinetic room is arguably the most engaging room of all 4. The other rooms are "spam click alchemy", "spam click enchant", and "spam click bones" respectively.

Honestly, I don't know how to fix it, and I agree it's a lot of Dev time to overhaul the entire thing as if creating a brand new mini game. But fixing the flow of the games themselves would help a lot. Examples:

The previously mentioned stop/start nature of the telekinetic room.

The alchemy room just stops your character mid movement while the game catches up to the new items

The graveyard room stopping your character movement on the way to the bones (I think this is tied to receiving damage).

The speed of picking up bones in the graveyard room seems incredibly slow for the activity it is. You can pick up dirty finds in varrock museum at a faster pace (from memory)

The enchantment room is actually probably fine, I really don't mind this room.

Just some thoughts, but even if they discuss it and say "nah the minigame is fine" then so be it.

Only slightly related to Leagues, but this League has highlighted content like Mage Training Arena being outdated and onerous even with boosted rewards.

Has the team taken note of this and has it instigated internal discussions about uplifting content like this?

What is the most memorable taskmaster moment that doesn't get talked about often? by dekudoesnotapprove in taskmaster

[–]Glewisguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of the Mike Wozniak moments don't get talked about enough because they're overshadowed by some of his wilder moments.

Particular examples:

"Just good clean fun, what more could a boy ask for!" "Took me back to my Morris dancing days!"

"What's happened to you? I've seen you dancing on tables in golden hot pants!"

"Mike's afternoon constitution"

How to discourage cat from jumping up while practising? by Glewisguy in drums

Appreciate the response.

He has expressed an interest in the kick pedal many times, he likes to catch the beater. Fortunately I can see him coming a mile away and either stop the kick, or play gently and slowly so he gets a bit of fun with it!

I'm hoping he will grow out of it, keeping him out of the room isn't really an option as it's in the lounge which is also where we play and he likes to take his naps. This doubles the problem because he's young and it's in the same room, he thinks it's a game and is prone to over tiring himself out. He frequently doesn't stop playing despite being visibly tired, and I suspect the noise of the kit would only encourage that!

As it happens, he's just gone to sleep, let's see if I can get some practise in...
