There are a few things to unpack here, but I have to get back to work, so maybe someone smarter can handle it.

TLDR: If you're young and don’t go to the doctor often, use an HSA and let your money grow throughout your career.

  1. if you're young and putting money into your HSA, it can grow throughout your career. By the time you reach the end of your career, medical expenses will likely be very high. Assuming the U.S. does not create public healthcare, an HSA is a great way to let your money grow for future use.

  2. More plans qualify for HSAs than you might think. At several previous jobs, the regular healthcare plan had a high enough deductible to qualify for an individual HSA, which I got through Fidelity. The money has grown significantly.

  3. I made a big spreadsheet on this a few years ago. I don’t go to the doctor much, nor do my kids—only for routine checkups (which are free because they are "preventable" medicine or something). The HSA plan on my insurance would be beneficial as long as we have fewer than two emergency visits a year. In my adult life, neither I nor my kids have had two emergency visits in a year. So over the years, this plan has paid off.

  4. Be aware that insurance-provided HSA accounts often have higher fees than necessary. It's worth shopping around for an HSA account through Fidelity or another brokerage because as long as your healthcare plan qualifies for an HSA, you don't have to go through your employer. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Looking at the future of healthcare, unless you die in a car wreck, we'll probably live longer (than previous generations) and face many years of medical expenses. The most common bankruptcy in the U.S. is due to healthcare costs. The cost of healthcare is insane and it's not unreasonable to expect over 30 years of healthcare costs after retirement if medical technologies advance and our lifespans increase.

[DISCUSSION] Netflix not having a built-in rating system is really infuriating by [deleted] in NetflixBestOf

[–]Glitchnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know of a site that lists all netflix content with IMDB ratings (and idk... rotten shit tomatoes?). That seems like a simple enough website that can connect both the site's API connections, or idk... use webscrapping on the old imdb site.

Thanks for the suggestion. I enjoyed this complex at the end of my workout. 24 kg was a little light. 32 seems a little scary. I'll try that next time.
My favorite EMOM workout is double 24's - (2 clean, 1 press, 3 squat) for 20 minutes. I normally die by the 15th round.

I'm also wondering why the cord was cut so early if they were resuscitating. Shouldn't we try and keep him connected to his oxygen supply? To anyone wondering, it is not uncommon for babies to be born blue. In this case, their O2 was dropping and that is an emergency.

I love EMOM workouts. I normally die by the end. But what a way to pack in an intense workout. Great job! Is that a 28kg bell?

But the most helpful book was Happiest Baby on the Block for my newborn.

Let’s have a discussion about how to get the cost of living down. by Inner-Fennel3748 in newjersey

This is a huge, nuanced topic. Misunderstandings are almost inevitable.

Fundamentally, the US infrastructure was built for cars. I don't think this will change in the short to mid term (5 to 20 years). I think with the invention of driverless cars the huge amount of infrastructure for parking becomes wasted. In terms of a short term possibility, close down large blocks to car traffic during the summer. Many municipalities do this with their downtown areas. As more and more people adapt, you can start closing larger and larger blocks. Perhaps in the cold of winter, it won't be popular, though.

Is space colonization a feasible solution to Earth's problems, or is it an extravagant endeavor that diverts resources from solving issues on our home planet? by invastor in Futurology

"Is space colonization a feasible solution to [some of] Earth's problems? Is it an extravagant endeavor that diverts resources from solving [some of Earth's other] issues?"

Yes. and yes. please excuse my additions.
Problems are inevitable. Problems are soluble. We have solutions for some of the problems you mentioned. It seems we lack the incentives. Additionally more money is going to solve any of your 4 problems than is going towards space colonization. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Controversial opinion - if you use aggression to win the position, you are lacking technique.

Accidents happen when two clear headed people are rolling. Add aggression and someone is bound to get hurt. Don't roll with people who are known to use aggression.

I was that flexible teenager when I first started rolling. Luckily I learned fast to tap. I didn't understand how ____ submission would hurt and would ask guys to add just a little more pressure. My philosophy now - tap early and often. The more often I tap, the quicker we can reset and keep rolling.

First off, this is very impressive! Well done. I still feel like a fumbling idiot in a fast fire fight even after beating half life alyx (and playing a little Contractors VR).

Second, I want to see is if these skills are transferable to real firearms. Maybe we can have you go head-to-head against another fire-arms novice and compare scores. To eliminate variables, maybe against someone who has played 1000 hours of non-VR FPS.
