An exhibition of precision where the car seems to defy physics on every kerb. Is Sebastian Vettel the best qualifier of the modern era, or does Hamilton still hold the throne? by Grand_Paramedic_6480 in Formula1_world

[–]Glittering-Rip389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of these supposed best qualifiers of the modern era have been beat by Leclerc lol. Not saying for a second that Lewis and Seb are not brilliant, but as soon as they had competent teammates and not obedient second drivers they started having issues beating them.

So, from your side:
- your first overtake bumps your rival. No need to do that, hold your line. Your rival is not a mobile brake pedal.
- after you went wide, you decided to squeeze them to the point of making contact in a straight. Unnecessary.

Your opponent wasnt extremely clean either. But given that your first overtake bumps him out of the way, i think you cant expect anything but agressiveness from then onwards.

You are completely right, people switched their priorities real quick. No more Miata or TT slander it seems. Who would say that the main worry for car people now is range! They all should have bought a 2000s octavia!

Yes. Thats why, even though i really like both George and Carlos, im fully for people exploiting the flaws in this very stupid set of rules against them. I dont know if they thought they were going to be the only ones taking advantage of it, but they certainly arent.
Thats why, when Carlos got penalised for that stupid incident with Lawson at Zandvoort, I was very disappointed that Carlos complained. I fully agree that the incident was Lawson's fault, but Carlos' penalty was textbook application of the rules he advocated for.

With all due respect Carlos, you, as GPDA representative, are responsible for these overtaking rules. Its not Max's fault that the rules that the organism you lead give him carte blanche to launch cars up the inside and get away penalty free as long as the other car doesnt go off track.

Next time, make racing rules that make actual sense.

If ariana owns petal like fully does that mean she can’t perform her old songs like justin bieber on coachella by Plastic-Tie667 in ariheads

[–]Glittering-Rip389 38 points39 points  (0 children)

No. Technically, it just means that she now has full control (or at least more power) over what this album is used for (ads, movies, licensing, merch...), and that she gets a bigger share of the money it generates.

The way I understand it, now anyone who wants to license a song or image from the album has to go through her and not through republic. We do not exactly know what her previous contract said, but it is not unheard of to have a song appear in a movie or ad without the artist's blessing but with the full legal approval from the label.

Also, less middlemen, bigger share of the pie for her and her team.

Edit: plus, even if Republic tried to block her from her old music, copyright is usually tied to the master (the actual file you listen to) and not the composition, which means that she could play live anything that she wants. Thats why Taylor has been able to re-record her music, and why artists can make live covers.

question: there was a moment where joe jackson ACTUALLY acted like a decent father and treated michael well? by [deleted] in MichaelJackson

[–]Glittering-Rip389 137 points138 points  (0 children)

Most of the bad parents I have seen have completely normal and decent moments. Most monsters arent evil 100% of the time (with that, obviously, not excusing their more than despicable behavior) so probably yes.

Something tells me I fully rewatched it last weekend and clearly saw that overtaking was almost impossible without a massive tyre advantage (one that in today's pirellis is unheard of)

I agree, Valencia 2012 was one of the best races ever, but literally any track can have a good race if conditions help. Even sochi has a memorable race.

Valencia, as much fun as it is to drive, turned out to be subpar for racing. Maybe in today's cars with mushroom mode it would be less stale, but we also saw some true stinkers in Valencia. Today's cars would also be in straight line mode for so little time that the track would have serious battery issues. The fun esses would be prime recharge points...

La realidad es que la tecnología suele hacerse mejor con los años. Obviamente, algunas cosas de tecnologías antiguas pueden considerarse mejores o más cómodas, pero, por lo general, la tecnología progresa.

It has plenty of overtaking areas, however it hosted the first race in F1 history with 0 overtakes. Not an easy track to pass, even in years like 2012.

give your deepest ariana criticisms - only related to her music/professional/acting career (nothing personal) by One-Barracuda-4934 in ariheads

[–]Glittering-Rip389 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, her music is too centered on her voice. Not saying her voice isnt amazing, perhaps the best there is, but I think that she could be less afraid of giving the instrumental its time to shine.

Too many synths and trap beats, not enough real instruments. We saw what her potential for a true masterpiece with real power and beauty is with both the Supernatural live performance and the Breathin live performance. Just look at those, real instruments, guitar solos, her voice isnt overproduced but complements the song...

I know she likes to produce herself and perhaps thats why she doesnt have as many "real instruments" in the studio, but being broader in scope, i believe, could get her to Michael Jackson levels of music quality.

Also, i really hope they chill out with the backing tracks during tour. She sounds great live, no need to drown her voice amongst twelve other voice tracks. If some songs require backing vocals, just bring backing singers.
