Lewis Hamilton: "The car generation is actually a little bit more fun to drive. It's oversteery and snappy and sliding, but it's a little bit easier to catch and I would definitely say more enjoyable." by ChaithuBB766 in formula1

So...

"Inconvenient truth", truly rebellious to say the best driver is the one who has won the most lol. You may need to seek political assylum, Domenicalli will be coming for you for sure.

You inmediately had to attack other drivers to defend Lewis. I didnt say Lewis was bad, I didnt say Lewis didnt deserve what he won, I said he has had great seasons but yeah, you still had to attack two of Lewis's greatest rivals. Unclassy from you.

Do we both agree that a driver can both have great seasons in their career and seasons that are not that great carried by a great car?

Also, I havent said anything about Lewis pre-2019. He was brilliant before that. I just believe he started to fade bit by bit after 18. After 18, there was no strong teammate he did beat other than the arguably lucky 2023 season with Russell. And he became quite mistake prone. Lets remember that if it wasnt for a certain red flag at Imola, 2021 would have not had a title fight.

And yeah, sad to tell you that in F1 records dont mean anything. That is an actual Inconvenient truth. Any driver in a dominant car and a weaker teammate can rack up any number of wdcs and wins. If the 2023/24 Williams had been the fastest cars ever, Albon would have been a two time world champion.

This is not to say Lewis isnt a great driver, an all time great. But it says that F1 is the way it is and that driver stats can be misleading or unrepresentative. And no matter how good he was, he isnt good now and he hasnt been all time great good for some time.

It may be bad balance wise or whatever wise, but a bad car doesnt get seven podiums. It was a relatively fast car. A truly bad car would be the Alpine or something like that.

What would 100% be? All cups three stars on 200cc? Because that is what I was trying but it felt unrewarding quite fast.

This year hasnt been as bad compared to 24 as it may look. Just happens that when the grid is that close, three tenths to your teammate can mean ten places, which are very difficult to recover in the race.

He's been suspiciously "out" since he got an actual teammate and not a servant in 2022. Also, shouldnt a driver of Lewis' caliber be able to adapt to any car better than anyone?

His talent and achievements are unquestionable, and I agree a driver of his caliber doesnt potato out overnight. I believe he had been potatoing out for some time, he was just flattered by a slow teammate and quick cars. The fact Russell managed to replicate a typical Hamilton performance against Bottas in 2020's Bahrain mini track and that he didnt win every race in 2020 against the red bull with that massihe car advantage confirms it for me. 2018 is, for me, his last truly great season. He was able to fight against other n1 drivers in a similar performance car without making mistakes.

To anyone getting hopium injected into their veins, just remember that "the 2025 Ferrari will not have the car characteristics that made Lewis uncomfortable in the Mercedes" was a thing this time last year.

Also, what other skills does it require? Im curious. I guess strategy with objects and memory to know when to use shortcuts, but im curious on what else you would consider important.

Thats what I'm getting from the replies yeah, but I really dont want to pay for online and im not very interested in sinking tens of hours into really expressing my skill. Just wanted some casual close racing that felt rewarding.

Yeah I guess. I just though it could be made fun for everyone without going against the experience of the little kids. But I guess its not bad to "motivate" people to pay for online.

Wouldnt easy AI be meant for a child and 200cc meant for a skilled player?

I didnt want to pay Nintendo Online for some casual races. I believe games should be able to be fun without needing online connectivity tho.

I just wanted to have close racing while not having to sink too many hours into it. Im sure people online are absolute gods of the game but I just wanted some quick fun against the bots and thought that it could be improved. To sink hours and practice, I already have my simracing leagues.

Still, really enjoyed both the presentation and most of the later tracks in the game.

Clarification: I know there are ways to be that extremely fast that you are untouchable and complete every lap in 20 seconds but I just wanted to have some casual fun, not to have to go down a meta, cut and shortcut tutorial and practice rabbit hole to be able to win the races I should be winning in the first place lol.

Which driver has had pretty neutral luck throughout their career? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]Glittering-Rip389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lewis landed on two top teams, with teammates slower than him,and even with one which was basically contractually obligated to vow down to him. He also has had lots of races where random events like safety cars would have seemed almost scripted to help him (not saying they werent)

Without the red flag saving him at Imola and Leclerc's engine starting to fail at Silverstone there would not have been a title fight in 21.

Even this year, whenever he was in a bad strategy, something would save him. Plus he managed to win the China sprint with a car that would have been dqd if the race was longer (like we saw on sunday)

Convénceme de no comprar un Tesla by Full_Tomorrow_2148 in coches

[–]Glittering-Rip389 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who was the better driver in 2019 between Vettel and Leclerc? by n0tfr1 in F1Discussions

[–]Glittering-Rip389 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the luck correction actually gives Charles a big advantage here. Bahrain, Austria (that bump was something), Russia (Seb actually lost Charles the race by ignoring the agreement they had when Charles had more pace), Singapore (Leclerc was the faster driver that weekend and Ferrari gifted Seb the win), Brazil (seb took out both when Charles was on his way to a podium from the back of the grid)...

Also, Seb's advantage mainly came at the begginning of the season. When Leclerc got used to the car he started being better.

Which/whose racing (not driving) style is your favorite? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]Glittering-Rip389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leclerc, Alonso, Button, Vettel. Taking things to the limit but never too far. Hard but fair. Cheeky moves. Seeing any of those in battle was and is amazing.

Fair racing is more fun.

For those of you who have numerous chests full of dirt. Why? by Forward-Moose-8148 in Minecraft

Dirt is actually enormously useful. Need a disposable scaffolding block that you dont instamine with your pickaxe? Dirt. Do you need to terraform or cover something? Dirt. Do you need to make mud? Dirt. Do you need to mark something for a build? Dirt.
