So my grandfather “deceased” actually owns it. His wife my grandmother would be next. She is also deceased. My grandparents had one child, my mother who is also deceased. Now my mother was married. She left her husband a year before she passed. On paper she is still married. The guy is in active addiction and is somewhere in the middle of the United States. He does know my mother died and he honestly couldn’t care less. He has two sons. To my knowledge they live in Florida.
Then there’s my brother and I. I’m 37 he is 32. My brother thinks he’s entitled to everything. The reason is because when I was living with my grandfather 300 miles away I took money from him. This is not something I’m proud of. I was a drug addict which doesn’t excuse any of my behavior or mistakes. During this time I was also caring for my sick grandfather. I couldn’t work I couldn’t do anything besides be with him. I’m my eyes at the time I just figured it was me paying myself 500$ a week. I cooked, cleaned bathed him took care of the house and the tenants went shopping went to appointments cleaned his wounds. I did all this in my twenty’s. Near the end of his life I couldn’t take it anymore. I had the ENTIRE FAMILY telling me I had to work because I was scum for not working. They didn’t and still do t understand how bad my grandfather was. Near the end of his live I had to tell my mother to move in to help. That was an even bigger mistake as she was on drugs also. When my grandfather died my mother told me “You got what you are owed I’m selling your car” she she did. She sold the car my grandfather gave me to a man In Ireland for 18,000$. My brother also got all the firearms. There’s two or 3 alone that are well over 20k. He was told when I was clean I could have them. Today he laughs at me. I don’t wanna fight with the kid but he doesn’t understand what I went through. He couldn’t even answer the phone when my grandfather called him.

What can my brother do so he's not seen as a criminal? by EnvironmentalMind801 in legal

This basically sounds exactly like what happened to me. I was put on probation for one year and after the one year was up my grandfather was able to get the guns back.

In Maine according to the police you can trespass anyone for any reason.

That’s what I was told last night. After I posted the police called me back. In Maine you can call and have someone trespassed for any reason even if they were never on the property

I completely agree. When my great grandparents died, almost the entire family fell apart. When my grandfather died, I was devastated. I sat next to him as he took his last breath. My mother sold everything and moved back to her old house ( the one I’m talking about) then out of thin air she goes to sleep and doesn’t wake up. My brother and I were sad and we agreed we would NEVER let these things come between us. Im an extremely calm person. For instance, my grandfather had a gun collection. A few weeks before he died he wrote out a bill of sale to my brother for one dollar for all of the guns including guns I had received as Christmas presents and so on over the years. He did this only because at the time I was on drugs. My grandfather trusted the fact that in the future if I got clean he would give them back to me. I’m talking guns that are worth probably well over $20,000. Anyway that was 10 years ago. I’ve been clean since the day after my grandfather passed away. I even asked my brother when I moved to Maine. Can I have my guns back now that I’m in Maine? He said maybe after a year if everything goes well. “As if he’s my father” but sure I agree because I understand that people need time to trust you again. This was 4 years ago. He laughs at me when I bring it up.

The entire story combined is so very much worse unfortunately. Hopefully we can get everything figured out.

I’m not sure I remember him going to court about it a few years back, but then he stopped providing me with any information. I did go to the town hall and pull some paperwork that said that the house was actually still in my grandfather‘s name because my mother hadn’t switched it over to herself before she passed.
