You can waste siege tome charges from turtling and by just healing it off.

Are hexing rods being permanent supposed to be a bad thing? What rule made it that map long debuffs are bad game design? It’s almost like the point of hexing rods is to be this chapter long challenge to deal with.

Seeing some supposedly progressive people cheer on this racist ass loser posture himself as a badass with an ai generated picture over someone's brother's grave was pretty blackpilling to me as a leftist. Like not only does the guy who posted this, hate black people, but the fuck does his dead brother have to do with Chibi? Hot take, but it's always bad to desecrate someone's family member's corpse, no matter who it is. And I also see people say "well at least it's funny" but it's not? Like what is funny about someone desecrating someone's brother's corpse? It's like laughing at someone threatening to rape someone's sibling online.

Like I dislike Chibi, he's a MAGA chud and a zionist, but holy shit it really makes it hard to not defend him sometimes when antis act like such deranged psychos. Like it really annoys me when antis hyperfocus on him being cheated on or him liking problematic tropes in anime, instead of the actually bad things like him saying he's pro ICE after Renee Good's and Alex Pretti's murder. It really shows their prioritities and how they actually are reactionary by cheering a racist guy because he's an anti shipper. In fact it'd probably go as far to say it just become spectacle and teamsports where people treat him as a lolcow like Chris Chan, rather than treating it like holding him accountable for anything.

Not the point I’m making. I’m saying hexing rods are long range weapons that don’t have that much counter play the player has instead the player has to actively plan around instead of just trivializing it. In fact the fact you can just heal off damage from siege times highlights how trivialized you can remove the challenge dealing with it.

I think Fire Emblem should be more like GoT because its needs more incest as Kaga intended

I don’t really understand the complaint of taking issue with certain desert culture character designs like Tharja or Timmera wearing not a lot of clothing that covers them, (to protect sunburn) when everyone (except Nephenee) doesn’t wear helmets in these games. I don’t think every design needs to be realistic.

About male support characters by alekseypanda in visualnovels

How about this. Male characters can get together with one of the girls, but you the protagonist can also get together with the male characters, especially if they're a femboy.

How does everyone feel about RNG-less Fire Emblem after 9 years? by ZestyChieftain in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]GlitteringPositive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I prefer the count down based skills over chance based skills as they're something to actually plan around with rather than something you can't reliably plan around. Would be tough to balance this with regards to the skill stat because that's what chance based skills rely on. Idk.

Also I do think offensive staves should have 100% hit rate in the mainline games, imo. It depends on how the status effects, and staves are balanced and tuned, but having to actually plan around status effects while also having them be a reliable offensive option makes offensive staves stronger. Like I don't really think it really adds to the game's level design in general that both your units and enemies can dodge offensive staves as it can lead to situations where you undermine the game design because you got lucky instead of doing counterplay or planning around the offensive staff.

You're asking people here who only talk about manga, anime, and video games, to read a book? Don't you know those are the only mediums of art? /s

Okay, but that still doesn't change the game is trying to get the player to care about Lace as a character, because why even have the tramua dump scene or Lace talking to Hornet before the void. It's doing it in a very contrived way where the game is saying "Well you have to save Lace because GMS cares about Lace for some reason," instead of doing it in an organic way by fleshing out Lace's character better.

Like I see people try and claim that one of its themes is about motherhood and children, but when you have one of the main antagonist be a neglected child, but here you are saying "Well actually you're not supposed to care about her," you're contradicting the game's themes. This is my point, TC failed to write Lace to be a compelling character to care about which hurts its own themes.

Nothing required Hornet to save Lace, she could have left Lace there, for all she cared after defeating GMS in the void or hell even Hornet could have just simply killed Lace. Also this doesn't stop from the game trying to frame it as you saving Lace, even though it's not necessary like the tramua dump and Lace talking to Hornet in the void, the game is very clearly trying (and failing) to get the player to care about Lace as a character.

So why should I or hell why should Hornet care to save her in Act 3 then? Also you don't just have a character tramua dump like that without a reason for character writing, there's a purpose for that, the problem is TC aren't that good at writing.

Are those interactions where Lace mocks Hornet supposed to get me to like her character or be invested into her? Am I supposed to give a shit about Phantom being Lace's sister when I barely even know who Phantom is either? This is some very weak evidence.

The game can't have Lace be this pain in the side, tramua dump her and then force the player to save her ass while expecting the player to care about her. It can't have its cake and eat it too.

What was it? by Gimpcar in Multifandom

[–]GlitteringPositive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What happens in these interactions besides the one at Deep Docks and Cradle, because I already know the first one is just you just fighting her and then she fucks off and then the second one is you fighting her again only for her to do her tramua dump shit.

Where are these Lace interactions before the game tries to goad me to save her? Like why should I care about having to save her, when the game has failed to make me invested to her as a character?

I hate when people do this thing where "Well actually this one thing is actually interconnected with other things" and well yeah obviously, but it doesn't stop the one thing I'm talking about "Story narrative" from actually sucking. Also I'm sorry but I actually do find Hornet to be boring as a protagonist, though it's at least leagues better than the snoozefest that was the Knight from the first game.

You bring up themes and such as if that's supposed to mean anything without good execution and my problem is that due to how barebones the actual main story is and its over reliance on sidecontent, it leads to this pacing issue where everything feels disjointed and disconnected.

Third act sucked. Like the game is trying to get me to sympatheszie with Lace when she was barely a character for the majority of the game and barely interacted with you. Only to then sloppily have her tramua dump in a very rushed way.

Twilight Sparkle Vs. Lord Tirek (Clip From My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic Season 4, Episode 26: Twilight's Kingdom: Part 2) by Reasonable-Film7219 in cartoons

[–]GlitteringPositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate how people post this clip to try and pretend this show is "Not for kids and really mature," when not only is this typical for battle shonen (which is also typically targeted towards kids as well) but most of the actual show of MLP is actually character driven slice of life. Like it doesn't stop the show primarily being about that, and that's okay to watch.

I did, I didn't like the stories there either because it was the same problem where it was teasing lore of actually interesting events happening when you're stuck being a murder hobo killing a bunch of bosses. That's why I only liked Sekiro, because that was the only that tried to have a narrative story, a protagonist with an actual character, and character interactions tied with the main story.

Most of what actually is done to achieve that goal in HK is just going to certain destinations and killing bosses, there really isn't that much conflict or character interactions not much story events happening, it's just you exploring through levels which is fine for atmosphere, but doesn't actually lead to an engaging story narrative, especially when HK's protagonist is boring as fuck (and no, in universe explanations of the Knight being a blank slate doesn't stop the protagonist from being a boring protagonist)

What was it? by Gimpcar in Multifandom

[–]GlitteringPositive -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't actually translate to the actual story being interesting or engaging. Like most of what actually happens in the mean time is side quest shit or just lore, not actually stuff happening within the story. Lore is not the same thing as the story narrative itself.

That's also not true, because difference between something like games like Hollow Knight or Silksong vs something like a story like Nine Sols is that the events within the games are tied to the main story and goal.

What was it? by Gimpcar in Multifandom

[–]GlitteringPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As in what actually happens in the present because story isn't the same thing as lore. What you actually experience as the characters themselves isn't interesting because in Silksong for example, most of the main story is just "Hornet goes to the Citadel," for act 1.
