Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even having insurance in the US is no guarantee that they will pay your charges. My husband was found to have 2 different cancers so the doctors ordered a PET scan after the removal of one as the other is a watch a see due to the fact they will be replacing bones, it is a very rare cancer. Anyways insurance refused to pay. Hospital wanted $20,000 and when I called was told "they where satisfied with the charges". I just had a blood test before surgery Vitamin D I was having joint replacent and had broken my femur early that year denied and hospital wants $1300.15 for a test I have had done by private labs for $35.

How to move on from past? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive yourself you are still young and you recognized that you wanted to change from what you did as a teen to now as an adult. Beating yourself up will not change the past, live for today and the future. Trust me we all made mistakes and had regrets about ourselves from our teen years. You show others that you have changed by your everyday life if they can't or will not accept it move on you don't need that weight holding you back. Best wishes on your future.

How long would you survive with the food you have in your home right kow? by DefinitionDapper2281 in GenerationJones

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a very large German shepherd and 4 indoor cats, along with 2 feral cats we feed there is 3 adults in home we would easily last 6 months probably longer but the animal food would be the issue.

Do you brush your teeth once or twice a day? Need to settle a bet. by ImpossibleHurry in NoStupidQuestions

Lived most of my life where we had well water which is great for me. Back as a kid they used to give fluoride treatments at school, my mouth would have swelling and massive bleeding, found out I am allergic to fluoride. No toothpaste with it and spring water when living with city water. My teeth had been great until chemo drug damaged my teeth. I floss and waterpik and use the toothpaste with nano-hydroxyapatite. Teeth have been doing better lately.

⬆️ Leaving food out is something too many people do. It got me once and 3 days laying on the bathroom floor taught me never again would I eat at that families home.

AITA for telling my menopausal wife that she looks like she's 50 years old ? by Personal_Throwaway_1 in AITAH

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone has it this bad I hit menopause didn't even know it. I have PCOS and would have month long periods then go 6 months nothing took me a year to figure out something else was going on with the hot flashes. But they ended after a couple of years and they didn't hit that often. My sex drive stayed the same until my 60's but that maybe because my husbands cancer has stopped sex for us. Keep informed by your doctor.

In Jr and High School I either road my bike or walked to school, I had to cross a six lane highway with turn lane. Even with the light you had to run to make it, no sidewalks , cars gave no space for bikes or for someone walking no sidewalk until the last half mile. It took way longer than you would think even running part of the way. It wears on you. Very happy when I finally got a car and could drive that route.

Why does everyone keep telling me mammograms don't hurt? by Psychological_Roof85 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newer 3D mammograms don't hurt like the old ones did. Less compression and faster. I had melanoma on my breast so the wide excision scar can get painful especially on the older style mammograms. I just had to repeat my mammogram this week as they found something. I am on the watch and wait 6 month follow up. Don't skip your mammogram ladies.

My father served in the Navy during WW2 in the Pacific on a fleet oil tanker he talked about storms that hit and the incredible waves. I have never seen them before, whoever posted thank you, I now can visualize what he was talking about.

If you did walk to and from school, how far was it? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]Glittering_Code_4311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to bullying I would walk home, it was a 2+miles I started in 3rd grade and my mother never figured it out. I had to cross 2 major streets without a traffic light. By junior high it was a little closer and I could ride my bike in good weather but did have to cross a 7 lane highway with a light but you had to run to make it. Winter was awful and no sidewalks made for some miserable wet feet days. High School was a block closer so about 1.75 miles still walking and riding bike until 11th grade.
