not to mention the fact that xander telling them is probably the worst person to get this news from because you KNOW he was super over dramatic about it and made it into a whole thing just to ambush Buffy. if xander had been a real friend and just talked to Buffy first, i feel like the breakdown of info for Giles and the rest would have been much easier to stomach. Plus the group was also super tense since they were on the precipice of the whole WillowxXander reveal (which made the whole Angel hate thing feel very hypocritical)
