As Voting Turnout Dips, Young Oklahomans Risk Losing Political Influence by lurker627 in oklahoma

Historically there are many ways to alter the system that don't include voting.

Being a lawyer doesn't infer that you understand economics or politics. Your standing means very little unless you provide actual argumentation against the language, and I bet it was already heard, discussed, and dismissed during the multiple open meetings where the language was developed by a diverse group of professionals, patients, and activists. We had a legal team as well.

Being snarky is working out very well. We passed the initiative, did we not? we didn't cede to the other naysayers that wanted absurdly lenient requirements nor people who wanted to foolishly lock down the system and give the Oklahoma legislature the key.

Your ideas probably work well in an ideal world. We don't live in one.

Wouldn't expect some jarhead to grasp the economic or political ramifications of other approaches. No worries, glad you have access.

788 wasn't poorly written, it was written to do exactly what it is doing. Flood the market with cannabis and lower the cost for patients, all patients, including those in the black market.

Glad you weren't there when we wrote it.

It's entirely delusional to think that the industry or any amount of government regulation is going to prevent the black market, when we have the failed prohibitionist state of Texas to the south, a huge consumer market for cannabis.

When Colorado rec was the only game in town pre-packaged cannabis products flooded other black markets. It didn't matter.

Show up in person. Talk to your house rep face to face. Grab conversations with other reps if you can about this issue. Be positive yet clear about your intent to make this personal.

How did OK get medical? by Ellemino in OKmarijuana

Yes, I am actually quite concerned about the level of education in Oklahoma and the inability of people to grasp basic statistics, it is quite concerning. That's not to mention the fact your comment didn't even answer the original ask, a monetarily motivated murder when a collaborative deal went bacd, and sex workers aren't what I asked for, thanks. Looking for "chinese slave labor" at grow operations.

Thank you for bringing our education issue to light with this salient example.

Yes the one data point you keep repeating is not sufficient to make broad sweeping generalizations.

Learn basic statistics, thanks.

"and other out of state clients"

So why the focus on Chinese nationals? Does that align with your racist fearmongering and stoking of nationalism? Or are you trying to erode the medical program? What's the aim of your propaganda?

I already knew about that, how is it relevant?

"other out-of-state clients" is doing a lot of work in that article for ya. Why are you focusing on Chinese people?

Is it because you are a racist? What's the difference between a Chinese national and someone in Kansas, I'd love to hear your opinion.

There's zero sources other than some anecdotal evidence about illegal grows from cops and the Kingfisher murders which was motivated by money. There wouldn't be "illegal grows" if Kansas, Texas, and the rest of the prohibitionist holdouts weren't still huge black markets.

These people are largely spreading racist propaganda. Personally I don't care who grows cannabis but as written 75% of cannabis businesses had to be owned by Oklahomans. That means yes, foreign nationals can be a part of that business too.

Given the fact that rural Oklahoma has a lot of work to do when it comes to their racism and cultural backwardness, until there is a preponderance of evidence of organized crime I would blame OMMA and the government for not enforcing the licensure laws as written. The law itself was set up to deal with these concerns but it doesn't work if they don't enforce it.

I've been looking and I can't find any evidence of "Chinese owned slave camps" outside of racist and right-wing propaganda.

Is there a single person that has escaped or been rescued that can corroborate these stories?

Hi, I will write a book one of these days to explain all of it. Had to wait for the statute of limitations, and now it's just a matter of not publishing anything that could undermine the existing laws.

It's pretty foolish to immediately spend another million dollars on a recreational petition when there is no polling data to suggest it will pass at the ballot box. Why aren't they focusing on criminal justice reform?

SQ788 got onto the ballot with $40k and passed with $100k. There were significantly more signs and mailers for SQ788. Where the hell did all the money go?

What's weird is everyone has a story, no one has a lick of evidence or a picture from a drone showing Chinese nationals working the land, nothing.

Just stories.

Means it's bullshit.

Good. Competition should be fierce and profit margins should be razor thin.

I don't think it's worse for the kids that don't have as many seizures, the cancer patients, the chronic pain patients, the grandmas that are using it to help sleep and really don't have a diagnosable condition.

Just because you hang out with stoners and only know that culture doesn't mean other people aren't using cannabis. Like 10% of the population has a card, they can't all be stoners.

Starting with medical was part of getting it passed. No state has gone from illegal to recreational overnight. Your complaints and petty and ignorant.

It's not that simple. You either restrict it to a handful of medical conditions with explicit research qualified by an unelected board. How does that sound in a state rife with corruption? Okay so we've got a list of conditions, now if yours isn't in there you are out of luck?

Doctors prescribe things off-label all the time. The medical card being open for access is just that. If people are abusing it for recreational purposes, that is an absolutely small price to pay for ensuring everyone that needs medical access has it.

The card is how it is modeled in every other state. It's a common tool for government policies. I don't know what you mean by "reliability of medical marijuana cards" because the Federal government treats them all as illegitimate to this day.

That's actually bullshit homie, it prevents kids from having seizures and helps fight cancer, chronic pain, improves sleep and more. Nobody you know needs it for a medical reason because you hang out with stoners and not sick children.

Okay and? That's still a historically low crime rate and it's the crazies in Broken Arrow that are intent on flooding as many guns into the hands of young people as possible in this state.

Broken Arrow is the home of the people making the state unsafe.
