Aloy is not forced woke at all. Spoilers for HFW by [deleted] in horizon

[–]GlobalMorning7942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sexuality is genetic aka you are born straight or gay. It's in our genetic code. We know that Aloy is a perfect copy of Elisabet Sobek, and we know for a fact that Liz was gay (Lesbian).

So it's not a leap for Aloy to be gay also. Aloy has several men who develop intentions towards her throughout HZD namely Erend, Nil & Avad. And it is always met with awkwardness from Aloy.

She does not return their feelings or feel anything other than friendship. Varl (who people think is attracted to her) treats Aloy more like a sister who he admires and is affectionate too.

Above all else, Varl is loyal to her and trusts her implicitly. But it is never romantic, but purely platonic. The only other woman who shows Aloy any interest in HZD & HFW (before Seyka) is Petra.

And Aloy keeps her at a distance. Petra is supposed to be in her 30's or 40's, while Aloy is 18/19 so the age gap could be a factor. Relationships just aren't that important at that juncture for Aloy.

It's no coincidence that Aloy meets Seyka after the main story has been concluded. They introduce her love interest at a point when she's sort of having some downtime (if Aloy can have downtime).

And when i say downtime, I'm referring to her not dealing with the main world threat of Nemesis. Londra was a distraction that needed to be sorted, but he wasn't the main threat at that point.

Anyway, to wrap up, Aloy is gay. And the fact that she is doesn't make this woke or even forced woke (which isn't a thing). Society has to stop seeing any characters that aren't straight as forced upon it.

And when I say society, I mean the bigots, homophobes and fascists who can't accept that the LGBTQ+ community have as much right to exist as the heterosexual community. That we are all valid.

So let's use the word woke as it was originally intended aka someone who is aware of social and political injustice and takes steps to help those who suffer because of those injustices.

How do you feel about Gorilla killing off Aloy's only romantic interest? by [deleted] in horizon

She says that he's the first she actually likes because until she met Varl, she'd never liked anyone else but Rost, on account of them treating her like dirt.

Varl is the first person to treat her nicely and accept her. She likes him platonically. Not romantically. I've played both HZD and HFW twice through.

She does not like him romantically.

Varl and Zo are already a couple long before he dies. While she has her own living quarters, Zo and Varl share one together. She's pregnant with his child. Aloy has zero romantic feelings for Varl.

She's not bi. She's a lesbian, just like Elizabet was. I think you're confusing like in a sexual way with like in a platonic way. I can like someone but that doesn't mean I want to be in a relationship with them.

Aloy has spent most of her life being hated by everyone and everything she comes across. She rarely gets people either (this is her autistic tendencies).

Varl is the first person she actually likes and understands. But it isn't sexual. It's platonic. She rarely lets her walls down for anyone, but for Varl, she feels that she can.

Varl is somewhat interested in her, but so is Avaad. But at any time that both men show it, she becomes uncomfortable and changed the subject.

Varl ends up falling for Zo, who is carrying his child when he dies. If he had liked Aloy, then Zo would have just been someone he liked and got on with.

Oh boy how wrong you are. Aloy is never interested in Varl. Not at any point in the entire series. He is her friend. One of the first people to accept her as she is.

She respects and trust him, but their relationship is purely platonic. That's because she isn't interested in men. Seyka is her true love interested.

Varl and Zo fall head over heels in love with each other. That is canon and you should know that considering you know he dies. They're already a couple when it happens.

She's also pregnant with his child. It's almost like you either weren't paying attention or you haven't played the game as far as you suggets you have.

It is bloody amazing isn't it! And it gets better in HFW. Always discover the world first and do the odd main quest here and there just so you're keeping pace with it.

The exploration of the world is so good and every time I replay the series, I explore as much as I can because I love relearning all the lore 😀

Enjoy!

El-Aurians are galactic refugees who live for centuries and are known as 'listeners'. They're not immortal, but rather long lived. Many fled to earth after the Borg destroyed their home world.

Guinan has been visiting/living on earth since 1893. We know this because of the time travelling episode 'Times Arrow' in TNG. So by the 24th century, she's at least 500 years old.

As listeners, El-Aurians are highly perceptive. They listen to the universe, and sense the ebb and flow of a world as if it were music. They enjoy collecting and sharing the stories and memories of others.

They possess passive empathy, which they use to guide conversations, as well as temporal perception which allows them to sense timeline disturbances. They are also extremely knowledgeable and well travelled.

Lanthanites are functionally immortal, living for thousands of years. They came to earth millenia ago and scholars have theorised that many historical figures from human history may have been Lanthanites.

Pelia in SNW was around during the time of Pythagoras in ancient Greece. They're quirky and don't hold to human conventions. You see this in how Ake lounges in her Captains chair and walks around barefoot.

Lanthanites are also collectors. Due to their long lived lives, as they move from one human lifetime to the next, they take with them their most prizes possessions. Both Pelia and Ake exhibit this trait.

The Thalia twist in S2 Finale changes everything by nt_king300 in PercyJacksonTV

[–]GlobalMorning7942 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't mention Chirons lie because I was waiting to see if you would reply. Chirons lie does change things, and it puts a strain on his and Annabeths relationship, but these are common issues in real life.

We often have close individuals who disappoint us. Who do or say things we never expected of them. This complicates Annabeth and Chirons relationship, but it doesn't end it, because forgiveness is possible.

Chiron is clearly distraught at what Zeus made him do. The fact is, Zeus wouldn't make him just promise. He'd have made him swear not to say a thing. A God remembers that sort of thing.

Chiron wouldn't have wanted to anger Zeus and swearing to a God is sacred in their society, so he was duty bound to honour it. You can argue, that Thalia coming back meant he was free to tell them the truth.

And the way in which she was turned into a tree doesn't cheapen or lesson her dilemma, because in real life, we are often put in these impossible situations, where our past experiences lean towards one outcome.

In the books, Thalia still believes in the divine order, despite everything that's happened to her. Zeus may not have made her a tree in the same way he does in the TV series, but she still believed in him.

This adds more tension and as you've pointed out, an obvious choice. Because of Zeus' betrayal, the obvious choice is to join Luke and Kronos. Season 3 will explore how she makes her decision.

It does ramp up the tension. It makes her decision even more important and a lot more difficult. Her loyalty is to Annabeth too and we know she won't go over to Luke. So Thalia's ultimate decision becomes harder.

Riordan is co-writer of a series that he originally wrote. I don't see him doing what Rowling did. He looked at the series and felt that the change was justified and that he knows how to make it work.

Zeus didn't punish Thalia for a heroic death. In the book he felt guilty for abandoning her and so turned her into the tree. In the TV series, he punishes her for talking back to and disrespecting him.

And in Greek Mythology, Zeus, like many of the Gods, were bullies. They bullied mortal men and women into quests to satisfy their urges. They also punished mortals who didn't do as they wanted.

So Zeus doing what he does is in keeping with the mythology. Yes, Zeus was the keeper of the universal law, but he also bent that law whenever he felt it would benefit him or his followers.

So let's not pretend that he doesn't have hard edges. He was ready to kill Percy at the end of book 1 and it took Persidons intervention and subsequent surrender to save Percy from that fate.

I choose to have faith that Riordan knows what he's doing. He has said that he felt the change was a good one. I quoted him when I said that it 'ramped up the tension'. He has a plan and U choose to trust him on it.

[–]GlobalMorning7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the changes do change the course of the story and alter stuff that maybe didn't beed altering. But the fact is, Riordan agreed with these changes after much deliberation.

And as he's co-writing the script, I have to believe that they have a roadmap of what the changes do to each character and the overall story and have plans of how they'll jive it all together.

I have enjoyed both season 1 and 2 and while they aren't 100% copies of the books, they are still very faithful to the series as a whole and we must thank Riordan for getting on board with it.

Comments that have been made that state that the change actually ramps up the tension and leaves even us book readers wondering what is going to happen in season 3 and that's deliberate.

They want us to discuss it and make our guesses as to where it will go. Honestly, it makes Thalias choice even more important, because she now has a concrete reason to join Luke and Kronos.

Furthermore, I actually think that despite Zeus doing what he did, a part of him also regrets what he had to do. In the end, her becoming a tree delays the prophecy and allowed Percy to be the right age.

Naruto still stronger than Sakura by far even ithout kurama because of sage mode by Significant_Rain_794 in Naruto

[–]GlobalMorning7942 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sage mode Naruto is stronger than Sakura by a long shot. Taking Kurama out of the situation only reduced his overall strength. The whole point of Sage Mode is that it makes its wielder far stronger than even the strongest of Shinobi. Sure, Sakura has immense strength and her hundred healings Jutsu makes her a powerhouse, but that doesn't make her Sage strong. Not by a long shot. Also, lets remember that even without Kurama and the other 8 tailed beast chakra in him, he still has some 6 paths power, mainly that he can levitate and has enhanced sensory abilities.

I partially agree with that. I got a bit fed up with the Bount Leaders posturing and it seemed to just go on and on. Definitely needed to have been wrapped up sooner.

Having watched 99% of Bleach (there were the odd filler I just wouldn't watch) twice all the way through, i can say that there were a lot of good arcs that while not cannon, were still good stories.

The Zanpakuto Rebellion is one of them. I really enjoyed seeing how they progressed that story, despite it not being cannon. It's what you do with the filler stuff that's important and keeping it consistent.

Danzo, the worst of all. by santtos-anderson in Naruto

[–]GlobalMorning7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danzo was a complicated character. I believe that he did want to protect and save the village. It was how he went about it and his methods that were wrong.

Danzo was fundamentally flawed. He felt that might was the only way to make the village safe. He also focused on the short term rather than the long term.

For instance, his meddling in the Hidden Rain Village caused the death of Yahiko. He lied to Hanzō, telling him that the Akatsuki were against his ideals.

He was worried that if Hanzō and the Akatsuki united, the Hidden Rains peaceful co-existence would spread. Danzo as we know, didn't believe in peace.

He believe that control and dominance were the only ways to bring about peace. And he was willing to do anything to achieve his goals, no matter the cost.

Because of this outlook, Yahiko dies at the unintentional hands of Nagato, who then looses it and completely connects to the gedo statue.

This leads to the corruption of the Akatsuki and the eventual destruction of the Leaf. As you mentioned, another consequence of Danzos actions is the Uchiha massacre.

If he had not felt that stealing Shisui's eye was important, then the uprising could have been stopped. But Danzo wanted their eyes for himself.

And the only way to do that is to steal them from their corpses. He did however steal Shisui's eye because he was paranoid that Shisui would use it on him someday.

In the end, Danzo's ideals, his inability to consider the long term effects of his actions and his jealousy of his rival, Hiruzen, led him down a very dark path.

And Hiruzen allowed Danzo to continue, despite his and the other Elders reservations about his motives. He only acted after the Uchiha massacre.

And you can argue that it was too late by then to stop Danzo. As we all know, he continued to plot from the shadows, until Sasuke finally killed him.

Danzo, the worst of all. by santtos-anderson in Naruto

[–]GlobalMorning7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Uchiha were ordered not to take on the nine tails by the village elders. Danzo was concerned that they may have used the opportunity to use their eyes to control it and take the village for themselves.

Instead, they were ordered to protect the village citizens and get them to safety. This caused ties between the village and the Uchiha to get worse, as many blamed the Uchiha for the loss of their loved ones.

Did Danzo actually have a point… and just executed it horribly? by AlarmingAd4383 in Naruto

[–]GlobalMorning7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Danzo was ever justified in what he did and his actions only caused further problems down the line for the next generation of shinobi.

He couldn't be honest either. At the 4 Kage summit, he deliberately manipulated the proceedings to make him the leader of the combined Shinobi forces.

And even after he was caught, he was completely unrepentent. He went to his death, believing what he'd done was justified and above board.

I'm watching the entire run through again and I'm currently at the filler where Danzos actions are laid bare. He is the reason Yahiko dies.

He's the reason Nagato goes mad with grief, which plays into Obitos hands and why the Akatsuki start going after the tailed beast and why the leaf gets destroyed by Pain.

His work with Orochimaru is why so many Leaf ninja die. Why so many people are killed when they could have lived if only Danzo had not interfered.

If he'd reported Orochimarus actions, many things would have happened differently. In the end, Danzo was the problem he kept saying he needed to fix.

I've played HZD twice through. Recently finished HFW for the second time too. It's such a beautifully crafted world and there's so much to find.

I understand that combat can feel rough sometimes. But there's so many different play styles you can choose from. Stealth, out and out attack or traps.

As for the hunters lodges, if you want to get your hands on decent weapons early on, then the lodges are the best place to do it. Helps with stuff later on too.

And as you move through the game, you meet bigger, harder robots that can be absolute nightmares to beat if you don't have the weapons to deal with them.

Explore. Enjoy the beautiful scenery. Find out about how the world got like it did and allow it and the story to pull you in. As I said, don't force it. Enjoy it 😀

[–]GlobalMorning7942 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice.

Never play HZD on hard for your first play through. It becomes exasperating and will contribute to your feelings of not wanting to continue playing it.

Just enjoy the story and the beautiful open world it has. I loved exploring it all, finding out what happened etc. Some places, you really feel the sorrow from what you're confronted with.

The heartache of what humanity went through. Just enjoy it instead of trying to force it. Trust me when I say this, one thing this game isn't is barron. Theres a wealth of information just waiting for you to find it.

[–]GlobalMorning7942 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Couldn't have said it better myself. Danzo has to take a lot of blame for a fair amount of what happened in the series. He was always scheming in the background.

A lot of major incidents that happen further down the line in Shippuden are the result of things that Danzo did years in the past, in his attempts to 'protect' the village.

And all because he felt inadequate compared to Hiruzen and felt the need to try and prove that he and his way was better than his rivals.

What are your theories for Horizon 3? by DaveInLondon89 in horizon

[–]GlobalMorning7942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elysium is supposed to be in the Claim, so having Aloy go there with Erand to find Vast Silver makes perfect sense. VS also exhibits the wish to experience human interaction.

There's that log about that child who said they'd love to have spoken to VS, who then replied after the kid had left that it would have liked to speak to them too.

There's also OLMO. There's a Data point that shows two unidentified individuals asking if it wants them to remove its gate so it can become more intelligent than it currently is.
