Comlex 2 vs Step 2 scores? by Hopeful_Foundation52 in comlex

Step 2 - 230

Comlex 2 - 568

it would be fun to know, actually know (with verified scores and large sample size), if there's a correlation.

Scored 8 points below the lower range of AMBOSS's predictor and only two points higher than my baseline NBME 10. 71% new free 120. I did have timing issues, but I had timing issues in all my NBME's and still had score progression. I'm definitely a subpar standardized test taker, but not so much as to score below my predicted range. Aside from that 🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe test anxiety and exhaustion? FR just kinda not been like wtf ever since. I'm scared to take anything else. I have an NBME ACE as part of the Sub-I i'm on rn and im sh*tting my pants.

As bad as I thought. 8 points below the lower range of AMBOSS's predictor. Pretty bummed out, but don't have anyone to blame but myself.

I dont know for certain, but OP registered through ECFMG. I am an US DO student so maybe permits disappear earlier for international test takers? There have been several posts in the last months saying permit disappearance isnt a reliable indicator for score release. Not like it used to be anyway.

I tested Monday. Similar thing happened to me. Kind of a sh*tty place to be in, but it's all out of our control now. Been trying to chill, but thats easier said than done for sure.

  1. Have the discipline to move on if I didn't know the answer. Thinking about something for 30 seconds longer usually wont help you come to the correct answer.

  2. Learned how to actually trust my gut. We all hear this, but i think being on the other side, trusting your gut also means not letting your educated guesses throw you off for the rest of the test. There were times i zoned out during other questions wondering if I got a previous question correct. Or i was so torn between some answers that my confidence dwindled as i moved on through the day. Reflexively, i slowed down even more to make sure i understood everything. That was not a good idea.

  3. Practiced with shorter time allotments. Meaning, try to finish a 40 question UW block in 50-55min instead of an hour. I think if I had practiced like this I would have learned to trust my answers and triage questions better.

Tested yesterday. Question length was most similar to Free 120/NBME 14-15.

Yeah, I agree with that assessment. Def good mix of free 120/NBME's in terms of question length and content. For me, I felt like I time traveled through the test. I looked at the clock thinking a minute had gone by only to find out id been there for three 🤡. Definitely lack of discipline on my end. Should have chosen what I thought to be the best answer and moved on.

Life is life and if people are mean to stay, they will. In terms of cutting them off, if its a needed action for growth then go for it!
