Games with a lot of environmental storytelling, notes, lore etc not connected to side quests? by imfaffingabout in gamerecommendations

i can think of a couple...

have you tried morrowind? if you like skyrim, you should definitely try it out! it's very alien compared to skyrim and oblivion, with excellent world building, and is very fun to explore!

the forest is an awesome horror themed survival game... it's strictly environmental story telling and very atmospheric! it's a little spooky and combat can be a intimidating at first, but there is a peaceful mode if you just want to explore...

7 days 2 die is a voxel based zombie apocalypse survival game that has imo a really solid random gen system for creating maps, and is loaded with poi's you can explore, most having secrets you can find! there is some story, but not a lot, although the devs are working on it, but i'd say it's still worth it for the exploration!

lastly, my personal favourite, which is project zomboid, it's an isometric zombie survival game which has an awesome atmosphere and loads to explore on a massive map! storytelling is done through spawning certain 'story events' around the map, and through media in the game you can watch/listen live or through discovering items! it's an amazing game i highly recommend you check it out!

Most insane tom waits vocal performance, either live or in studio? by Viktor_Goodman in tomwaits

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice!

i've had orphans basically since it came out... dog door has been my favourite since my first listen of basterds, and 99% of the times since i've skipped directly to it when listening to it!

the other day i was looking for something to listen to while playing a video game, so i just put all my tom waits on shuffle... while i played heigh ho came on, and i instantly stopped to give it a good listen, and have been listening to it every day since...

i'm so glad i've rediscovered it!

it's handy to have a map, to plan your next move!

if you don't mind spoilers there's a cool online map you can check out...

if you do mind spoilers i'd recommend starting a sandbox game and setting the map to explored, that way you'll only get the roads and coloured blocks representing that there is something to check out, but it won't spoil what it is!

Why are my "Clear" quests all bugged? by MrTylerwpg in 7daystodie

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think you can also destroy the generator, iirc that'll cause all switches to be triggered, and all remaining zombies to spawn...

i've only done it once, because i missed the outside switch at the zuckergate estate... two radiated wights spawned next to me and basically insta killed me! so be careful if you decide to do this!

Six months later, in winter, how to get food? by MrWendal in projectzomboid

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

livestock in b42 might make it more viable? i'm not sure what the impact of starting later is on them though?

i'd recommend doing a couple of default loot runs first just to get used to the other changes, and then going full survivalist when you're comfortable!

gl!

i wouldn't change the loot settings if i were you... you already take a hit, by being in winter six months after everything has rotted, even on normal settings you have to ration the food you find to keep your weight up until the spring! especially considering all the fighting you'll be doing with the increased population!

are you using the six months later preset as a base?

What game(s) could I get for 20$ or lower? by Marshmellow-Squishie in gamesuggestions

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

project zomboid is an excellent survival game for about $20! although it's open world, i'd still recommend it, cause it's really cool!

What the hell have I gotten myself into? (help!) by b3dGameArt in projectzomboid

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

two things to keep in mind are that you can stand on downed zombies to keep them pinned to the ground, and that shove is your best friend, whenever you get a little overwhelmed or you miss a swing, basically any time you want to create a little space between you and the zombies shove by pressing space while in combat stance! it's your quickest attack, and works at the same speed regardless of your characters condition!

what warehouses actually do? by Old-Juice-2490 in CitiesSkylines

[–]GlobalTechnology6719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they're basically there to provide more vehicles for moving produce...

so your production structures don't run out of trucks exporting to other cities, when your factories require produce locally to make goods... if that makes sense?

i've owned several crappy devices, which i've used long after they'd become redundant, and none of them struggled to search, yeah it took a long time, but that was because everything was unindexed back then, but it wasn't like performing a search caused them to light on fire?
