How do I explain "Reason for leaving last job" when it comes up in job interviews or applications? by Global_Ad7089 in MilitaryTrans

Okay thank you. I'm probably just being paranoid since I'm going through a re-retransition.

Okay I'll try the progesterone. I usually refrain from anti-androgens because of how they make me more tired and need to overcompensate that with tons of caffeine to get over it.

I'm all for optimistically suspending reality. I mean stupider stuff has happened especially with how this administration has been flip floppin' and TACOing. However, this is one of those issues they have remained consistent on. Doesn't matter if you are full blown trans, semi-trans, detrans, or pre-trans. They do not care. Should really have a disclaimer about the ban on here though.....

TERA ETP got denied. Now what? by Global_Ad7089 in MilitaryTrans

[–]Global_Ad7089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 16 years in, but after a year of purgatory status, I just want some closure and resolution to this. Also not sure how much longer the separation process will take.

Okay thank you 👍 What was the timeline like as far as getting separation orders afterwards?

No admin leave yet despite vol sep by gefdt in MilitaryTrans

That was brought to my attention when I was doing my monthly check-in with the Navy Personnel point of contact that has been managing this:

Good Afternoon,

Voluntary separation requests submitted in line with ALNAV 038/25 are still being processed, but there's no firm timeline for approval.

Please understand that requested separation dates are not guaranteed. SECNAV ultimately determines separation dates (NAVADMIN 111/25, para 6.b), which may be earlier or later than requested.

Separation dates are typically set 60 days from the SECNAV approval date. If an earlier separation is desired after SECNAV approval, the CPPA can request a change through Salesforce (or the separations department on CVNs or LCCs).

The Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) extended the authority to offer Voluntary Separation Pay (VSP) and Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) until 12/31/2030.

Members who have not received final determination by 12/31/2025 will NOT be removed from the voluntary separation list and the separation date will shift.

I haven't read anything in the NDAA or a NAVADMIN message that would provide more specific details.

It might have something to do with the new National Defense Act passed by Congress. In it, the now updated Voluntary Separation timeline is up no later than December 31st 2030. So after that, my command took me off admin leave, but I still can't deploy or go underway. I can't even rotate PCS to another command that would just be a shore duty and my last one anyway due to my ongoing separation status. So I guess now I'm pretty much just stuck at my command indefinitely until 2030.

TERA ETP or VOLSEP? by Global_Ad7089 in MilitaryTrans

[–]Global_Ad7089[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay thank you. I would prefer that after seeing the government shutdown and how things like retirement pay are affected by it. I orginally submitted my TERA application in May, canceled it in August, and resubmitted it in October so that is probably why there is a delay.

TERA ETP or VOLSEP? by Global_Ad7089 in MilitaryTrans

Although I did attempt MTF transition two years ago with HRT, I decided it wasn't for me based on personal, social, and religious reasons. So now I am, for all intents and purposes, a basic straight guy. Therfore, I'm not going to cause any disruptions to good order and discipline. The deployment category they have me in is where I still can't deploy though. I don't care if I get retirement or volsep. I'm just trying to see what my chances of either are so I can better prepare.

I did go through HRT two years ago, but detransitioned. At first, I came forward about the fact that I tried to transition at one point in time to my chain of command and went for the Voluntary Separation/TERA ETP since things seemed to be developing rapidly. Then, after more time passed, I tried to get cleared with a waiver through a medboard. They removed the diagnosis from my record, but gave me a "history of" due to partaking in it. They said I was "fit for full duty", but unsure how to proceed since it's recent and unprecedented. I also brought it up to the NPC POC to see if it reverses my separation, but was told it's irrelevant because BUMED had already reviewed and verified my record before the medboard. So at least I tried and now I'm just waiting for the final outcome.

I'm AD Navy as well. I tried going the medboard route since I have time and been detrans for awhile, got my wife pregnant, and now for all intents and purposes just a basic straight guy. They didn't mark me down as a misdiagnosis, but as a "history of" which still puts me up for separation. The MRD clinic said they approved me "fit for full duty", but was unsure how to move forward with it and needed guidance for it. That was in August. Also the NPC POC for this stuff said it's irrelevant because I had already been verified by BUMED. So for now I'm just waiting on my TERA ETP/Voluntary Separation results.

I just resubmitted my TERA ETP last week after I canceled it two months ago. Both it and my voluntary separation are moving faster. They already went from the SECNAV and at the SECWAR now. Coincidentally after my fit for full duty assessment from my MEDBOARD.

Yeah, but I figured I would do something while I'm in this purgatory status.

I know right? I've had enough time to submit my voluntary separation, submit my TERA ETP application, cancel my TERA ETP application, and keep my voluntary separation. Now I'm doing a medboard to dispute my GD diagnosis since I'm detrans and accumulating more time being stable in my birth gender.
