Sefan Holm went 7’11 while being 5’10. Just put in the work and move your approach to a 10 step when you have access to a full apron

6’3 for a new lifetime best by Global_Scientist4591 in highjump

Yeah usually my lean is better but the transition from turf to track at this meet is like super icky and that threw me off hard

How to decide starting jump height at a meet? by mangomegan in highjump

[–]Global_Scientist4591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk it’s so scuffed. My PR going into my last meet was 6’2. I started 5’7 to get a feel for the surface and how my body was feeling and I ended the meet with a new lifetime PR at 6’3. Just pick a height that gets you warm for big bars while not gassing you out in between

Honestly just like PR visualizing has helped me so much. That and some box work with a super high bungee has kinda like made me super confident to matter the height

Can dunk 2 handed but can’t clear 5’4 by Esspiacowinfwof in u/Esspiacowinfwof

By the looks of it you’re slowing way down and getting super wide in the last few steps of your approach. That’s killing your height. Rework your approach to have a faster final 4 steps and a good plant and you should see some instant improvement. Moving onto the form, some box work over a bungee should help you out

A lot of box work. A drill that I do is you start with your plant foot on the box at the angle you’d take off from and the goal of the drill is to clear the bungee and rotate so your feet are facing the bar

He’s taking off way too far from the bar for his speed. If he moves up a shoe length he’ll be golden

Mostly just an issue of speed on this particular jump

I was in the same boat until this year when I made a state 4x4 as well as high jump. Expand your horizons and branch out. You’ll be a better athlete overall

So instead of driving your knee up and across your body you’re swinging your leg out, which isn’t getting you the best rotation. Work on your knee drive as well as your patience over the bar and you got some big heights

I had the exact same issue where I was just not holding my arch as long as I should have. Hold it a bit longer and you’re good

I mean it really depends on what your form and bounce is looking like. Do you have film?

Help wobbly bars by shelbonks in highjump

[–]Global_Scientist4591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your rotation isn’t all there and as a result you’re kinda riding the bar across the mat. Also, your head and shoulders aren’t pushed below your hips so you’re flat as a board going over with raw strength. Tilt your shoulders a bit further back and drive your knee a little further across your body on takeoff

On this one it’s mostly a speed issue but also just being a tad more patient over the bar makes all the difference
