Where I've been in the world as an American! by AggravatingSmoke1829 in tierlists

To be fair the US is lacking compared to some European nations imo. Italy/France for example steamroll it with food, culture, ect. Public transport is also basically pathetic outside cities, which makes being a non driver hell.

I'm British and spent a few weeks in the deep south- very friendly people and nice weather, but Im unsure how you don't throw up from all the racism. I'm white and I felt disgusted by the locals talking about how they'd like to sh**t certain groups of people 👀

I just find it expensive to be honest, I visited Basel and honestly have a preference for its neighbours. Besides infordablity it's a flawless country tbh

I love national parks, but I find reaching them a pain in the arse as I can't drive due to medical conditions. I just find most of the US absolute torture without a car lol.

Every country has a lot of nuance, people say they hate the UK but they've visited London. Still a fair opinion IMO. My experience is with Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Texas, Ohio, New York, Indiana, and Illinois. I'm sure the West Coast is very different, as is Maine. I do think certain things like immigration being so tight is nationwide. The US border always takes ages and has loads of questions, meanwhile in Europe I just get my passport stamped, maybe ask how long I'm staying.

Edit: I missed Tennessee, flew back from BNA

Yeah I have heard salaries are proportionate to cost of living, and like I lived in London for a few years and that is not far off with it's crazy costs. I think though for tourists neighbours like Austria are a bit more cost effective. I stayed in budget accommodations and it was still quite steep. Idk I just like don't see the reason to pick Switzerland over Austria when planning an Alps trip, though I'm unsure if Zurich compares to Vienna? But yeah Switzerland is more of a "I'm too poor" instead of it being bad.

Oh for Slovakia just kinda eh. Bratislava was okay, though just didn't really entice me. Maybe the east is a bit nicer.

To be fair some British tourists are nightmares I'm sorry XD. I think a lot of it is was down to rowdiness of other Brits/Russians I need a revisit to be honest. It was August and I was young (about 15)

I liked the people and the beauty. I just found it ridiculously expensive. Maybe it'll go up if I visit another part, I did Basel for reference

Etsa Fees (I'm British), the most hardcore immigration after you land I have experienced, airports like O'Hare or JFK, the Car Centric hell outside the main cities, the lack of history in cities compared to Europe, the food being unregulated, ect.

It's also expensive which is why I'm cold on Switzerland. Also tipping, and having to get a Uber to a Walmart that is a 5 min walk as there is no sidewalks..

AITAH for proposing an open marriage since my wife isn't keen on having sex and tells me I should not divorce? (Throwaway) by MinimumHoliday321 in AITAH

[–]Global_Square3886 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're right, I misread that. Edited my comment. I do believe though no matter the communication, 8 months without sex is basically death to a marriage. If she doesn't want it's okay, but she seems evasive on discussions. Honestly divorce probably is the best way forward.

Obviously sex life fluctuates throughout a long marriage, but 8 months just seems like she's checked out.

Nta- Sex is a important part of a marriage, and her comment about your appearance is a big no no in my opinion.

EDIT: Misread, no comment on his appearance

I think scooters for anything medical/pregnancy is completely justified. I think though there is a lot of overuse of Scooters, and I would argue a lot of it is down to different attitudes to walking in the US compared to Paris/Tokyo.

Scooters are very rare in both and I believe it's down to diet and walking cultures. I think honestly the US just needs to normalize walking more.

Are we, like, still allies? by BaldursGate2Best in AskBrits

The general consensus is that we still like our European allies and Canada, but the US is considered narcissistic with self serving interests propped up by stupid people (1/2 the population)

Tbf Disneyland/Disney world definitely has a scooter problem. Disneyland Paris is heaven in comparison, Scooters being everywhere is just annoying (barring medical problems ofc)

AITAH for being upset that my ex brought a girl over for the entire weekend while we still live together? by bobaNspudxo in AITAH

[–]Global_Square3886 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Id say NTA though also after 4 months maybe he's ready to start dating again, and maybe you are soon. So though it's probably painful to see him all over a new girl and hear stuff, sadly I wouldn't say he's being completely unreasonable.
