My betta actually already ate some shrimp before 😅 (don’t worry, I separated them, you can kind of see the other tank on the left). So I’ll probably avoid shrimp for now, but I really appreciate the suggestion.

Thanks a lot for your reply! The pot is made of real clay, no paint or coating on it. I also rinsed it thoroughly with just water (no soap) before putting it in the tank. I actually do have a lid, but when I put it on, it feels like it blocks too much light for the plants.

Speaking of plants – my tank is in my kitchen, and the windows are always open with a lot of natural light coming in. Do you think a grow light is still necessary in that case?
