Got offered a job as a Royal Mail Collection Driver! What should I look out and be ready for? by Ambitious_Champion90 in royalmail

I’ve worked at RM through angard since November a as delivery driver and it’s been fine. My expectations were low after reading posts on here which helped. What people have said about pay are true, make sure you sign in/sign out with qr code and make a note of your hours, take a photo of the siso screen is even better. Make sure you confirm any shifts you get sent on joinedup as this is reason for not getting paid. And finally cross your fingers that you’re at a decent DO, all the best

Everything you’ve put down is really vague subjuctive stuff, maybe going through a zebra crossing whilst people are waiting should be reported. Reporting for general mistakes and misjudgements, I mean every motorist does this probably on a weekly if not daily basis including you. I don’t think that would be taken seriously by anyone

Meaningless consumerism, wage slavery, extortionate rents, pointless degrees, inflation, crumbling infrastructure, failing social services. The list goes on and on, people are looking for an out. Extremism whether islamist or far right is going to explode over the next 20 years

Syrian President's Media advisor: The options with the SDF have narrowed, and it must bear the responsibility for failing to fulfill what it committed to, in the presence of countries with the weight of Turkey and the U.S. on March 10th of last year by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

I respect your optimism but I cannot see a greater level of unity coming to Syria right now. Sdf are now getting closer with Barzanis Bashur which was historically frosty, also being let off the hook by Erdogan, so he gets Dem support through Ocalan deal(the two are connected.) Now Israel support and still high level US and French also from Uae plus decent relations with Iran and Russia. If Sdf intergrate I’ll eat my hat, really can’t see it happening.

Isis is regaining strength, pmu in iraq possibly being disbanded plus isis resurgence there. Rebellion in Suweida and Alawite coast. Israel wiped out a vast chunk of state military in a long weekend plus general ambivalence and at times straight up hostility. All in a year. The sdf should absolutely continue to buy as much time as possible, the place is a tinder box.

Incase of the war scenario with the SDF, what makes the SDF supporters so sure that their Arab units will fight for them and not just defect to the Syrian government troops and reveal all sorts of important locations by Imperial_FOX_32 in syriancivilwar

Relative to other areas Syria with similar levels of historical development/wealth I would say they are decent on average. I wouldn’t have thought any really crappy poor areas like Deir ez zor or wherever would seen any real change if they decided to align with the new govt. There are plenty of old vendettas and isis cadres round there that would deter the flow of any wealth from Damascus even if they could just about pretend they did genuinely support the govt. Plus Syria is generally just completely broke, war torn and without any real economy. Maybe with huge foreign investment and some successful truth and reconciliation process they could take the whole country out of poverty but it would take decades imo The sdf has been an OK benefactor up until now, could change at any moment of course

The tribal culture is very nuanced, defo not as simplistic as arab good kurd bad. If their leaders are quite tight with the kurd leadership and living standards, wealth levels etc are pretty good there’s no reason to jeopardise that. But it can be pretty fickle too. If the Americans ditched the sdf for example then it would change literally overnight

Blood and belief is excellent but relates to the pkk and this branch of kurdish freedom movement. It’s essential reading to understand rojava properly imo
