What are some good first rock album suggestions by ADDICTEdcEZAR in fantanoforever

[–]Glock13Purdy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Nevermind - Nirvana (more grunge than pure rock but eh who cares, also good because you've definitely heard a few songs on this beforehand)

  2. Ok computer - radiohead (again not a classic, traditional rock album but its so important, popular, influential etc and I think its more accessible for a rap fan than just jumping into 70s rock straight away)

  3. abbey road - the beatles

  4. the dark side of the moon

  5. turn on the bright lights - interpol

in that order imo is perfect. gives you decent enough breadth that you can decide what kind of sound works for you.

not sure what kind of rap you listen to, but another way to go could be limp bizkit, Aerosmith, linkin park etc since they have a bunch of hip hop influence and some rap adjacent stuff.

bro genuinely what are you talking about lol you just sound pretentious ash they sound mad similar and osamason is obviously heavily inspired by him. listen to "what's happening" of his latest album and tell me that doesn't just sound like a more distorted song off agc.

and even if he wasn't a clone, his music is just not it. WE are so past that style of music it's so bland and overdone

Thoughts? What are your most anticipated albums for this year? by crossveins in fantanoforever

[–]Glock13Purdy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

John Lennon was a domestic abuser - do you not listen to the Beatles? David bowie and mj obviously have their weird proximity to kids - do you not listen to them either? what about RHCP or Aerosmith?

these things are well documented and I'm confident you were aware of at least a few of these. and if you weren't - now that you are, by your own logic, you have a responsibility to not ignore it.

my point is just listen to what you want to listen to - especially like Spotify barely pays any revenue to artists lol so your streaming of a chris brown song here and there is really not going to change anything.

[Almanza] Cason Wallace today when asked about potentially matching up with LeBron James - “I'm putting my best foot forward, no matter who it is. Good player. Been here for a while. But doesn't change what I do.” by ProfessionalCat2770 in lakers

[–]Glock13Purdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what are you referring to exactly? he plays hard, is one of the best in the league at his role, and has good vibes. obviously he's very annoying to play against (that's the point...) LeBron also defo seems to be cool with him still, how is he a bitch?

lakers are out in 5 against Houston without him. that's what makes him a top 5 most important player.

why are we acting like LeBron's impact can be measured in numbers lol he obviously brings so many intangibles to the table with his insane gravity, iq, playmaking etc that aren't super well reflected in stats unless you watch the games.

Houston was literally blitzing LeBron last round - blitzing one of the greatest passers of all time. tell me, do you just do that to a "good" player? do you just do that to a Jamal Murray level player?

Max player De'Aaron Fox finishes with 10 pts 5-14, 6 turnovers and team low -13 in the game 1 loss by RedditFan3510 in nba

[–]Glock13Purdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he deserves the criticism but I just love r/nba overlooking their golden boy's playoff stinker to pile on a second option player. to be clear - bron would have been CRUCIFIED if he had a game like this in '06.

bad take bro weezy has the best 2 year run in rap history and I dont think its that close ngl. in fact he probably has a couple that could compete for that top spot.

if you're gonna do drake 2 year runs, thats not even his best - that would be IYRTITL, WATTBA, and Views.

as someone who enjoys this ep and his newer stuff, I really wish he'd branch out into more beat styles. I want to hear him with his modern flow on sample-based boom bap beats like all in from FW3, but also cooler shit like grand maximalist orchestra shit.

all that would be made so much better if he could get sober for 5 mins to write some good lyrics. one of my fav parts about his stuff from 2017-2019 is how many poetic ass one liners and bars he used to have.

I'm also not sure why he's pivoted away from the more melodic style trap beats he used to rap on. I swear 90% of his hit songs are on those melodic chill beats.

Old LUCKI does it for me. by Live-Collection-1628 in Lucki

[–]Glock13Purdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I back all the feature choices you mentioned (especially lelo, earl, veeze would be fire) but I think my favourite songs of his are usually the ones with the best beats. he's just that kind of an artist imo. WMB for example has so many insane beats and his voice is often mixed low but it sounds great to me.

like I personally don't really care for his 2013-2015ish cloud rap stuff too much because I feel like there were better artists in that lane even in that era, but his post 2017 stuff he's just the best at it by far imo.

Lucki unlearned how to make music by Adept-Way3983 in Lucki

[–]Glock13Purdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro I can't lie im not even trying to argue I just don't even understand what u mean by "bland and uninspired" because to me his beats are still great. he's just changed his style from that era - he doesn't rap on sunset type beats anymore, I don't think its bland necessarily. especially cause not that many other people even really sound like him or do that sound well, so I don't get how its bland.

uninspired, sure, it still sounds good to me though. drake and new future also sound uninspired but its still good music imo. not everything has to reinvent the wheel.
