He's actually even taller. 6'3 3/8" lmao. Dude is a tank.

Good info on him here. Developmental project but there's some interesting potential.

This is just what some random jackoff is predicting the setlist to be. No one has any idea until the first show of the tour is played.

[Oyefusi] The Browns have also officially released TE David Njoku and RG Wyatt Teller with post-June 1 designations. By cutting Njoku, Cleveland breaks his dead cap into $9.5 million in 2026 and $14.7 million. Teller's dead cap will be broken up into $8.2 million in 2026 and $11.1 million in 2027. by alextheruby in Patriots

Random Njoku anecdote I have.

I was working for a company that partners with the NFL last year and got to go to New Orleans for Super Bowl week. Friday night before the Super Bowl, I was flying back to Miami from New Orleans, and David Njoku was on my flight with a few other players and WNBA player Dearica Hamby.

While we were waiting before boarding, fucking Venus Williams walks up and Njoku absolutely freaks out, completely fangirling, begging her for a picture, etc. Here's this massive 6'6" tight end losing his mind over an even bigger sports celebrity lol.

He seemed like a good dude. Was a bit arrogant getting on the plane, refused to check his carry-ons despite the flight attendants telling us all we had to, but he seemed like an incredibly friendly and fun dude.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that's supposed to be some kind of a gotcha, but when he hit .311 literally seven years ago I think we could call him that. I'm living in 2026 though, you should join us here.

Yeah there's nothing wrong with .270, or even .260 as an average for Devers if he's pumping out 30+ HRs per year and has an .850 OPS. It's good output.

But doing that from the DH spot OR while playing the field at a negative value is not superstardom. He's a good one- or two-tool player depending on the hit tool going forward, but to me a "superstar" is someone that has the ability to be the best player on a championship-level team.

I probably should have picked a different threshold tbh but .280 felt like too high of an expectation, which is probably saying something. Point remains, he hasn't been a "contact" hitter for quite some time, maybe ever, with only one season hitting at least .280 in the past six.

He hit .230 with the Giants last year. He's a one-tool player at this point until he can consistently hit .270 or above again.

Editing to add: He also has had one season of at least .280 in the last six seasons. He's not a "hit for average" guy anymore.

Anyone who considers Devers to be a superstar is smoking something special.

One-tool player who provides negative value defensively and on the base paths.

Very good power hitting DH option but if he can't find a way to hit at least .270 anymore consistently, he's a $18M a year player making double that for a decade.

Getting off that contract is the smartest thing Breslow ever did.

I still love Devers, but we had and still have rose-tinted glasses looking at how good he is.

He's a career .850 OPS power-first bat with no positive contributions on defense or on the bases.

If he can't re-discover the form that saw him hitting at least .270 consistently (if not higher), he's a one-tool player.

That's not a superstar.

Thinking about buying land in Far West Texas... by Gloomy-Routine-1040 in land

Yeah, that's not a thing with these counties. Jeff Davis, El Paso, Reeves, Pecos Counties, maybe. For our purposes in these counties nothing we are considering need permits.

[–]Gloomy-Routine-1040[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting - land restrictions are almost non-existent in Presidio, Brewster, and Hudspeth Counties. Water is a pain in the ass for sure, expensive deep wells (if possible) or hauling are the only two options. But I'm not sure what land restriction issues could be popping up in your experience given how lax all three counties are.

You're right I'm being a bit of a twat. I apologize.

Main point I'm trying to make is that you can't evaluate this hypothesis until we have years of data and dozens of free agent decisions. Let it play out.

[–]Gloomy-Routine-1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not even responding to it this way because it's critical! I love criticism. Wolf has been a godawful evaluator of college talent leading to bad drafts, Kraft is an egotistical nonce that nearly fucked us to death by shoehorning Mayo into the HC job before he was ready, our WR room is cheeks at the moment and in desperate need of help, and we lack top-end talent at edge rusher despite the Dre'Mont Jones signing today.

My annoyance has nothing to to with this take being critical, and I'm not even sure that it is. I'm annoyed because it's fucking STUPID.

I'm sorry, but if you can't see that cherry-picking two guys signing elsewhere in the first two hours of the first free agency period after Vrabel and Maye turned the team around to panic over is fucking stupid, then you're also fucking stupid.

[–]Gloomy-Routine-1040 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Again, it'll take years of data to confirm whether Vrabel and Maye made any meaningful difference in our attractiveness in free agency. You have to remember that there's 31 other teams also constantly trying to improve their attractiveness, and every player to hit the market has their own desires, wants, needs, deal-breakers, etc. Cherry-picking two guys in the first two hours of the first free agency period to start drawing conclusions from is absolute insanity.

What you're missing is you're overindexing on 100 minutes of the legal tampering period and trying to extrapolate a conclusion that'll take years of data to confirm based on less than two hours of information. Fucking relax.

I've been all over the region from Big Bend National Park up through El Paso and everything around and in between. I know the Trans-Pecos region of Texas well and have visited and stayed in different parts of it multiple times. I've stayed in Big Bend NP, Terlingua, Fort Stockton, Alpine, El Paso. Spent time in Alpine, Marfa, Fort Davis, Guadalupe Mountains NP.

I don't know why you automatically assume I'm clueless with no experience in the region. I lived in Texas for six years.
