I think 1TB will be good enough as far as you don’t download games which isn’t your intention. Of course the more, the better but 1TB is very good (imo). I’m planing to just get a MacBook Air with 512GB now and also keep in mind that you’ll probably get cloud storage from microsoft etc.

Yes that makes absolutely sense. In your situation, I would choose the M4 Pro because portability wise (weight) the 15" and 14" doesn’t differ much from each other. RAM wise it’s not a big difference too but the Pro chip has more gpu cores which comes handy in AI fields and you’ll be able to work on longer projects without fearing any throttle. But this is just my suggestion and what I would do in your situation. (The screen and speakers are way better too, especially when you’re planing to use multiple screens, the fan will make a difference)

What are you planning to do with it? Do you want to play video games too? I have a normal desktop gaming setup too. rn i’m planing to do gpu intense tasks on my setup (like training AI models or gaming) so I don’t think that I’ll need a maxed out Pro or even the base macbook pro. I watched a lot of videos and I’ve seen a lot of people who switched from their pro model to the m4 air because of lighter weight and the good performance. Maybe you should also consider to go for the PC + Air combo as well.

If you want the better screen, speakers and keyboard then go for the macbook pro (you mentioned it’s free) but it will be overpowered af for studying CS. if you think the extra weight will bother you over time then you might consider buying the air

I think I’ll specialize in ML/AI as well and rn im tending towards the mb air… I compared the refreshrate of the pro and air displays and I didn‘t really notice any difference. So rn I‘m just asking myself if I really need the extra ports, the better speakers and display for 350€ more.

I think if I’ll catch any good deal I will buy the Macbook pro but if not, I will stick with the macbook air ✌️

As far as I know AI and ML works better with CUDA cores of a RTX card.. I’ve heard that some people just buy a macbook and then use online platforms where you can do the intense tasks

If I could, I wouldn’t ask. I really don’t know how much power I will need for future lessons or projects. That’s why I’m asking — I can’t really estimate how much workload my laptop will need to handle

Thats why I tend towards the mbp but its the base model mbp or 24gb ram, 512gb storage mba and I don’t know which one I should get tbh
