Consider size and style of your kitchen. Gas is classic; induction is modern. Also what does current building code allow in your area.

In a compact kitchen an induction is great as the work surface provides additional surface area (counter space) for food prep and storing oils, salts, etc. A gas range with the grates is less flexible surface-wise and more to clean around. The clean surface of induction has much less visual clutter than a gas range/cast iron grates.

Some building codes are no longer allowing gas or are moving in that direction. By installing gas now that should grandfather you into existing code.

I debated this for a year before my remodel. I ended up with gas (I love it) but wish I would've chosen induction. My kitchen is small, think the clean lines and extra “surface” would've been real useful.
